did you hear about the guy who tripped over a cordless phone?

    • That's the same guy who invented the cordless skipping rope.

    • and got hung up.

Anyone know if this model takes normal AA batteries that can be bought anywhere?

Ordered a cordless phone with dse, click and collect showing item was available at bondi junction, after 3 weeks no information, order still showing awaiting fulfilment, finally managed to call the customer service and was advised the store cancelled my order.

Seems to be their modus operandi

    • seems lately this kind of stupid behaviour happening to dickie, hardly normal and a few other online shops, and pissed a lot of customers off, i'd rather skipped those online voucher, paid a bit more and see the real item in the shop before paying.

    • Have heard this happening to a few people lately. My latest experience is they just leave the order sitting there and either take days to process it or not at all. I just go into the store, grab the item off the shelf and go to the counter and say I am here to pickup my online order and hand it to them.

i still don't understand how VOIP works, does it replace a landline connection ? as in takes over the landline number too?

        • +1

In most cases, VOIP is like getting a second phone line. Normally VOIP will not take over your existing landline number unless you specifically request it. But if you want, in some cases you can port your landline number to VOIP (e.g. TPG do this if you get internet and phone with them, the phone component is through VOIP).

Also, some VOIP hardware will let you connect your landline phone line too, so the same handset can be used to make and receive calls on both VOIP and landline. Think of that like having one handset that can use two phone lines.

If you don't port your landline number to VOIP, you can choose whether you want the VOIP line to have a "normal" phone number (e.g. 07xxxxxxxx for QLD). This number has no relationship to your existing landline number, again it's just like having a second phone line, with one slight change: you can choose which city you want the phone number to be in. Although I live in Brisbane, for many years I had a Melbourne number as my VOIP number, so my Melbourne relatives (who didn't have VOIP) could call me for the cost of a local call.

  • Anyone know how good these phones are?

    • +2

Maybe at that price they are $15 phones. Has anyone ever bought a $15 phone and been thrilled with it?

i paid $80 for the 3x set a few years back for my elderly mother. i think rrp was around $120. they had integration with her hearing aids which made them especially good for our use case.

  • Oops I… did it again

Collect these relic artifacts, and they will become priceless in 1000 years.

  • I don't trust DSE as they stuffed my order. Some products are not available at all despite they showed they were in stock at the time of payment. I ordered like 12 items. I paid for home delivery as well due to no pick up available and some were bulky items. After a week they sent me my partial order by TOLL five items with each item arriving every day of the week but the rest of order has to be cancelled due to no stock. I decided to cancel the whole order as I believe they mislead me to place order thinking there's stock and so I return all the goods back to the DSE hoping for a full refund including delivery. Guess what they insisted delivery charge still applies and won't be refunded because some did get delivered. I am still waiting for the refund after almost a month. JUST DO NOT TRUST DSE, this is my opinion.
