Looking to travel to asia for 2 weeks so in the market for luggage.
Brand name pieces are a good 170% of no name/Chinese pieces found in local shops and markets….the question is are they really worth it?
I travel once a year only and stay pretty much in one place so I don't need a armoured tank to carry around. In this case is it still worth shelling out more for brand names? ie. Antler, Samsonite, American Tourister…

I run a luggage store and spent 8 years in wholesale of luggage so i thought id add my 10 cents..
When anybody buys luggage from us we ask them a few questions, How often do you travel and what do you carry, this will then help us recommend a few options and brands for them as they really differ in the way they are made.
With luggage in general they just look like boxes on wheels but the things that tend to break cases are the zippers, wheels, handles and the shell, the difference in general between a cheaper case and a more expensive one is the material they are made from, the zippers they use and the wheels, now if you only travel once a year than we would show you the more budget friendly or basic range as you will not really get the benefit of the better made bag, if you plan to travel more often or would like a better built bag we then show you the ones that have the higher scale of material, zipper ect.
There are a few brands that do a good job in the marketing of their products but a good luggage store will be able to show you a selection of products that have the same quality of build and they will be able to tell you why one is priced higher than the other, helping you make the right decision for your needs.
Im always happy to offer some advise or feedback on travel products or Luggage.
Oh and you should never really pay full price for luggage, somewhere will always have them on offer, don't just look in the big chains.
