Need Some Help on Finding Cheap Flights

Hi, Im a newbie here and I need some help booking cheap flights to Glasgow.

I need to book a flight to BNE -> Glasgow on 16th of FEB
Returning around 22-25th March for TWO people.

What's the best way to search for cheap flights?

I have used flight scanner that gives me approx $1500 return. Is this reasonble? I haven't been to UK before and Im not sure whether this is decent price or not.

Also, the above flight seems like using qantas + British airways.
I got about 110K QFF points, anyway to use these points?

Thank you for your help in advance

  • I want that flight is a decent website to look on, otherwise you just need to look constantly for a sale & hope for the best

  • try www.momondo.com.au for another flight search website. very good.

  • +1

$1500 is decent and the easiest option.

For pure cheapest option…Book a budget airline BNE to Sin.

Then book an open ticket Sin to Glasgow to BNE.

Singapore charge way less in taxes and surcharges.

Also, look at flights to Dublin, then get a cheap flight to Glasgow.

We did Sin to Paris to ADL last year via etihad for $950

    • There is no budget airline flying direct from BNE to SIN. However Scoot does fly from the Gold Coast, as does Air Asia, so that may be worth looking into. Perhaps you could get a sale fare to KUL or SIN from OOL.

Pretty sure that going to Gold Coast airport from Brisbane by train/bus is cheaper than the Brisbane AirTrain.

  • Look at itamatrix.com
Another option is to fly to bkk with cheap airline and on from there.
Royal brunei had 20 per cent off but that ended yesterday. They only fly Melbourne to Heathrow. Expedia and skyscanner are good search engines too. Sometimes cheaper to book flight plus one night in hoel as a package deal with expedoa.

  • i'm a newbie here

But your profile says you joined in Feb 2013 :)

The cheap flights via Bangkok is a good suggestion, but with solutions like this you do need to allow extra time for connecting. If your first flight gets delayed then the airline has no responsibility for helping make the connection. I would allow a day for the connection. While it does add some cost, it does help break the long trip up.

    • Agree. I normally over night flight to Sin arriving early am, spend the day in Singapore, then catch an 8pm ish flight out. Ps. Dont buy beer at Santosa!

  • Thank you guys for your input!

So, I guess I will try find cheap flights to SIN

then find another flight to SIN - UK

addit: seems like SIN - Glasgow is around $1400 as well.

I can't seem to find any flights that will get me to Glasgow for around 1K

    • $1500 is a good deal. You can fluff around trying to go a low cost carrier but there will just be too many stops where you buy food and drink and over nights to beat that price to Glasgow. I couldn't find under $1650 to GLA and eve then I'd spend the extra $150 to get one stop on BA/EK.

  • Look at Norwegian airlines from bkk and then book flight to Glasgow. Might be possibility. Think they use dreamliner which minimizes effects of jetlag. There are cheap places to stop over in Bkk.

  • Scoot has Gold Coast to Singapore on sale now for $168.
