(VIC - Could Be Other States as Well) Energy Company Potentially Not Passing Price Drop 2016

Hi all,

I am referring to this

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/melbourne-2016-price-rises-…

Within that article, this was mentioned

"At home, Victorians will be hit with higher gas bills, but electricity costs will fall.

Major energy retailers’ average gas price rises, ranging from 5.5 to 7.6 per cent, take effect in January and February. Depending on the retailer, this will add about $60-$87 to a typical annual bill.

Average annual electricity bills are set to fall by $24-$76, depending on the retailer."

Usually price increase notification was given in December for 1 January 2016 implementation. This time I have heard nothing from my supplier and I would like to know if other fellow Ozbargainers experience the same?

I wonder if they are deliberately delaying the price drop in hope nobody notices and gulped the savings themselves. For the record, my retailer is Red Energy.

I have got my notification for Gas Increase from AGL though in December 2015.

Regards

Zz

  • I don't believe energy retailers need to notify you. They just increase their rates.
