  • I would recommend… AirBnB. Hotels in inner Tokyo have tiny rooms. If you're taking a travel cot of some kind you won't have room for it in many Tokyo hotel rooms. Even a studio apartment will have more space and more facilities.

Babies get free entry to Disneyland/Disney Sea if you were thinking of doing that, although I wouldn't do it if you don't have someone to tag-team holding the baby with (ie exciting rides will not let you hold the baby on them).

There's piles of galleries and museums if you're into that (and into taking your child through that). There's Japan's oldest zoo in Ueno. If you like Studio Ghibli movies their museum is brilliant.

  • For somewhere between AUD140 and AUD210 a night, you could stay at Hotel Gracery Shinjuku. Ultra-modern (less than twelve months old) and spotlessly clean. Yes, it will be a Tokyo-sized room, but if you get a TWIN room (rather than a double) you'll score extra space which would be handy for a cot. It's also got a private coin-op laundry for guests which might come in handy for chunder and poo-soaked baby clothes.

    • my friend stayed there. way too small. but ok for family of 3.

  • i highly recomnend tokyustay monzen nakacho! wow loved it so much. large tooms with 2 x semi dbl beds, has kitchenette and dryer/washer. very clean, heaps of amenities, and you can replenish at front desk, very clean and our room had a beautiful view of the temple and tokyo sky line. It incs free breakfast amd wifi. The breakfast was simple but so delicious! japanese salad, fish, yummy meatballs, miso, japanese sausage or western style. I loved it. we had 2 adults n 3 kids and it was inly $400 for 3 nights. a few mins walk to subway which is i think 2 stations from ginza.. sooo convenient.

the neighbourhood is really lovely, my fav in tomyo.. in april the cherry blossoms line each side of the canal. lots of parks and kids playground and its close to the famous kiyodumi? japanese garden. we walked there.
    kids travel free in tokyo.
