      [Vender] TP-LINK 300mbps Wi-Fi Extender TL-WA850RE - $34.95

      ;)

    • Only comes in colour ebgames incase your wondering too….

  • These guys any good?

    • I have a TP Link W8980 Router and it has been fine

    • I have exactly this model and it's good at doing what it says. I do find sometimes that if the router restarts then the WiFi extender won't pick it back up again, and as such will broadcast its own configuration page on the same SSID that it should be connecting on, which can be a bit annoying. Just requires unplugging it and plugging it back in for it to join the router's network though, and my router is fairly stable so it's only an issue if there's a power outage or something like that.

Note that this only extends 2.4Ghz not 5Ghz

    Frequency 2.4~2.4835GHz

  • Actually just had a mate ask me about extending his wifi coverage out into his new deck area - assume this will do the trick?

    • Yes.

    • Yes, it is also depend how far it is to the router. I use it as a client/receiver which this device had a much better receiver than our laptop or phone.

These are terrible and constantly drop out
Bought 2 in a pack from Officeworks and put them on eBay a week later
    Garbage
Replaced with Apple Airport Express connected via ethernet - solid as a rock.

What a ridiculous comparison to make.

Also, why didn't you just return them to Officeworks instead of selling on eBay.

        They. Are. Crap.

So what is the best option for a plugin,no Ethernet wifi extender?

        • -7

          @cjb: definitely not this

  • Can this act as a bridge? For an rj45 connection

    • 2nd that - will it work in client bridge mode (ie. while hooked to an ethernet switch)?

Have this extender for a while, wouldn't recommend it, when it wants to work its ok but constantly drops out, & there tech support is hopeless

  • So punny :)

  • I gave up on TP-Link when they expected me to install unsigned drivers for a WiFi card. An excellent way to let China into your computer.

Not applicable to this device but F.U. TP-Link.

Does this device halve your bandwidth like most extenders?

  • I have 2 of these and they work great for the price.

One for Foxtel box in the bedroom and other for PC upstairs

  • I have one didnt find it that useful to extending wifi through brick wall, i flashed it with dd-wrt now use it as travel router or wifi bridge (it does both without dd-wrt) but i wanted more tweakability so i could use us netflix/hulu on hotel wifi.

  • I have this and they work well. the trick is to set up the repeater network as a different name than the original network.
