        That link to the IGN Review is NOT a good review of the game at all. One of the comments to that review sums up the reviewer well;

        This reviewer never played through this game. If he played the campaign he'd know that there are significant differences between the levels. There's a VERY obvious scarcity of water in the ice level that requires you to build stone wells and platforms to melt the snow into water. The sand world has pyramids that prevent direct control of dwarves (direct controlling a dwarf changes the game into a platformer (think Mario)). If fact direct controlling a dwarf is the fastest way to build and craft anything in the world as a directly controlled dwarf never has to go to the stockpile to collect resourses. He should have also known that the bottom layer is all lava and dragons spawn there in all worlds. He'd also would have known that there are 5 randomly placed bosses underground that have to be defeated. The fact that he left so much stone not collected at the beginning of the game told me he hasn't played this game. At the beginning of the game stone is of equal value to iron in minecraft. There just so many things he's doing wrong in this review and so much incorrect information he's giving out that there's just no way he's played this game enough to actually review it properly.

          That's what I thought after updating the post. Thanks for posting it here :)

      A fantastic but very, very addictive game. I started playing years ago back when it was free and being developed and have seen amazing upgrades and improvements over the years. There are a lot of youtube videos and tutorials that are a great help to understand the intricacies and game play.

      But be warned - very, very addictive.

    • As someone who actually plays Dwarf Fortress, one the games this is 'based on', I find immitators like this and Gnomoria to miss the mark entirely. I know it's not the same experience but… Dwarf Fortress is free, and, quite honestly, the best game I have ever and will ever play, so I'd recommend you go play that instead if this is the kind of gameplay you enjoy.

      But for 5 bucks, who cares, lol. Might as well try both to get an informed opinion.

        I agree that DF is a great game due to the complexity and depth of play and that if you've got the time to spare you will enjoy it. The benefit of Craft The World over DF is the reduced complexity and cool graphics.

        While I do enjoy DF I found the ease of playing Craft The World to be refreshing and I loved the graphical interface. I can't compare them to each other as the game play and depth is very different but the concept of both games is really only where the similarities are.
