LG G4 Thread - Tips and Tricks

Hi Folks,

As you all know, the ebay deals has offered us pretty good deals for LG G4. I have finally got my self a LG G4 LG H815 from QD.

After using it for a week, I have concluded that it is a really good phone with awesome features. However, I'm not really impressed with the battery as It drains very fast.

I am wondering if bro on here have any tips and tricks to fix the battery issue. please comment below so we all can enjoy a better phone.

Also have anyone successfully upgraded a new version Marshmallow with the LG H815 ?

Feel free if you have any tips and tricks to make it a better phone

Thanks

  • I've had this since October last year - I find the battery life to be sufficient. I switch off blutooth, wifi and location by default. only switch them on when i need them. I also have the screen on lowest brightness but with the auto contrast ticked. if i need more brightness i'll turn it up otherwise have it lowest most of the time. Using this i can go a full 24hrs on a single charge. I have yet to try Marshmallow though.

    • +1

Hi, how did u manage to update to marshmallow? I turn em off as well but leave the Wi-Fi all the time. Some times if I use it to read website and stuffs it drains too fast.

      • I haven't. 'I have yet to try Marshmallow though'

I downloaded LG bridge in hopes of getting access to it, but that didn't work. Says no software updates for me :/

  • Can't really fix the battery life, mine can only go for about 10hrs on moderate use, about 3 hrs when used heavily. The only thing you can do is buy a few more batteries and replace it when you run out of juice.

  • I bought one too from QD EBAY couple months back. Downloaded Marshmallow update early January this year via LG Bridge (not OTA) and to be honest it is not much different than Lollipop. I am not a fan of the battery either as it drops nearly %40 in a matter of 2 hours of continuous use (From wake up to getting to work and watching movies on the bus lol).

Other than that, happy with the phone, my next phone will either be LG V10 or the new LG G5 :-).

    • Thanks alz, can you tell us how to upgrade to Marshmallow via LG bridge?

  • Ive uninstalled and disabled a lot of apps .. there isnt much bloatware on the phone.
But a lot of crap i still dont use.

Mine also on heavy continuous use drains , i heard this will be optimized with marshmellow.

Bluetooth and location are off 99% of the time

reduce the display brightness also if indoors.

    • Yeah same here. Its a great phone but the battery is meh. What apps that u have disabled?

      • I just went through them all and disbled the health, the books , newsstand , movies , games . just anything you think isnt system related and you wont use.

also close your open apps once you have finished with them

  • Hey Bigbabo

I just got the OTA update for 5.1 android
seems to have made a difference in battery life

Im still waiting for 6.0 as its supposed to be a lot better

    • Hey man. Yeah same here aye. I dont see much different tho. Hmm still waiting for the marshmallow.
