Adding Credit from Telstra Starter Pack to Google Play

Hello,
I have a currently activated $30 Sim Starter Kit from telstra. There is an in-app purchase I want to make of $75.
Can I use this $30 from telstra to go towards the purchase and use my credit card for the rest?

I tried to setup as per the intructions in the Telstra wiki here.. but this link seems broken: https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/google-play

Can anyone help?

    I don't believe you can do partial payments with carrier billing. Just recharge another $50 and charge it all to Telstra.

  • Oh ok thanks.. If I already have $50 in my google play account. Can I transfer the 30 telstra dollars to google play and pay the whole amount using Google play? Or does it not work like that?

    • Nope, if you choose carrier billing, you must pay for it all through your carrier.

      • Ahh I see.. So if I activate 3 telstra starter kits in total on one telstra account will I have $90 in credit to use on google play?

        • AFAIK you can only be charged from the sim card in the phone at the time of purchase. Telstra starter kits already come with a number, so you can't simply charge credit from all three starter packs to one mobile number. You can however, transfer credits from one number to another through Credit Me2U. It does cost 25c per transfer and there is a limit on how much you can transfer.

        • If you transfer two other starter kits credit balance to the first sim you will have $88 google credit. It will take three days to transfer at a max of $10 per day per sim and $9 on the last day (it costs $0.25 to transfer each ammount).

        • To add to this, you can only transfer full dollars. So you'll end up with two sims containing 25c each. Spend them on the weekly 20c apps/games.

  • Great thanks everyone for your help! So if I was using my telstra credit.. there's no setup to do? I just simply select telstra billing from the google play menu when I want to purchase?

    • Assuming you are using a newly activated card, it may take up to 24 hrs before Telstra has it all set up for Play Store to establish a connection with your account. After that, simply change payment option and proceed as usual.
