Plastic Convertible Rearview Window

Hi everyone , just wanting some advice.

I have a Peugeot 306 cabriolet and one year ago I replaced the rear-view plastic window as it was hard to see through. The new window though is dirty and is becoming hard to see through. I have tried to use Meguire's PlastX (only product that I found which said it was safe to use on plastic convertible windows)on it but I don't find it helps all that much.
I'm hoping to keep it clear through regular maintenance as I am hoping to avoid spending another $700 for a new window
I have had a look on the net and there is not much general information about what products can be used, only specialist formulations from the UK or the USA.

I know the window is in good condition because when I wash it with water and the water forms a layer over the window it is crystal clear to see through (ie. no oxidation or scratches)up until it dries and then becomes hazy again.
Further, I haven't found much information on how to maintain it and what products I can/should use. I only ever wash it with water as I am afraid of ruining the plastic window. Should I be using wax or regular car cleaners? Will hand-car wash stations detergents/wax cause damage? How should I go about restoring it to its original clarity without causing long term damage?

Thanks in advance
