Nice if you are opening up a business

That only needs to use Outlook & Word.

This is a very average machine, and i5/8g/1tb systems can be had for not much more during ebay sales

  • Don't forget cashrewards…

what is it now? still 1% ?

    • 2% I think…

I used it the other day for a click-n-collect at The Goodguys eBay page. Then I realised I could have bargained the product down with cash greater than the 2% cashback. Slaps forehead.

    • nah, it went back up to 2%

Not a bad price for a solid machine that includes a Windows license.

Be warned that these have a low output PSU, so if you're planning to plug in fancy video cards, TV cards, etc, they may not work. Any cards you wish to add will have to be half-height as well. They also have very little space for extras like drives. I deal with hundreds of these things, they're common in corporate environments, reasonably good if you want a basic office PC, not much good for much more.

Also, the motherboard only has 3 SATA ports:

      1 x SATA 3.0Gb/s connector (for optical), 2 x SATA 6.0Gb/s connectors (for HDD/SSD) on planar

which can pose a problem for some people looking to expand their storage.

Not bad. uMart have a similar machine for $600

    Even based on parts:
    i3 4160 $150
    mobo $90
    RAM $30
    HDD $60
    ODD $20
    Windows $130

There's $480 and you still need to buy
case + psu (even cheapy Coolermaster combo $70)
Build fee (if you can't build yourself)
    Possibly freight

    So that's somewhere between $550-650

  • Anyone know what the expansion options are on this for hard drives (SATA ports and power connections)?

Wonder if it can take two drives (1 SSD for OS and 1 3.5" storage drive).

    • I have the E73 model. Only has 2 Sata Power connectors, 1 for HDD and 1 for Optical, so you may fall short there. And as above only has 1 x SATA 3.0Gb/s connector (for optical), 2 x SATA 6.0Gb/s connectors. So if you can sort the power connector issue, I'm sure you could squeeze in a SSD.

    Peep game.

    $494 delivered. $29 diff

Both rigs include KB+mouse, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and SSD (you may opt for a 500GB 2.5" HDD for $4 less)
Slap on a GeForce GTX 960 for 300 bucks and it'll become a decent gaming rig - you'll also need to upgrade the PSU to 500W for 10 bucks.

Google how to put it together, it's not quantum physics. If a teenager can do it, so can you. Just make sure you benchtest first.

No Operating System, no problemo. Most people pirate it anyway.

    Come @ me.

    Pretty good value system!
    I'd tweak it a little bit -
Change mobo for a B85 for $20 extra - heaps more ports and better chipset.

Only 4GB RAM if really tight on budget - just don't have 40 browser tabs open at once

Swap the SSD for an Intel for $26 more

You really do need an OS though :p
