DickSmith Warranty on GoPro Camera

Hi guys,

So I bought the GoPro from DSE about a month ago with 2 years extended warranty and things start to act up with the camera and we all know how DSE is going through receivership at the moment so things will be nasty. I've done my homework and follow all the instruction from the GoPro support website to try and resolve the problem but none of them seems to work, so I believe it might be the factory defect.

Do you think they would still honour the replacement warranty like they promised me a month ago when I bought the camera or they will behave like a bunch of dicks and waste my time?

    As far as I'm aware:

The first year's repair warranty is still valid with GoPro as it was an Australian purchase, the remaining 2 years replacement are valid through "The Warranty Group" which is a separate entity to DSE.

Thought OP had a problem with dick smith not honoring warranty, turns out OP hasn't even asked the store yet and is jumping into conclusions, panicking in advance!

    • Yea I am panicking in advance because after doing a little research on the internet all I see is bad reviews about DSE warranty process.

That's like freaking out about doomsday now. That's hardly research. Research would've shown you the open letter above (ozhunters comment), it would've brought you to ACCCs website and told you they have to honour warranty. You're panicking and reaching at the wrong places.

Not every store is a bitch. I returned a faulty eneloop overnight charger once, had it for about 14 months, not sure if it was a mistake or not, but they gave me the more expensive smart & quick charger instead.

Resort to forums/fb rants when they do refuse to help, not before.

  • Hi OP, If it was purchased post 5th of Jan (during receivership) they will honor manufacturer warranty in store. If it was before the 5th of Jan then you will have to contact gopro directly and post it out etc and have them repair/replace it.

  • Still under manufacturer warranty so there is no problem as long as there is a genuine fault with it.
