[BRIS] Best Price to Change Timing Belt on 2012 Citroen C4

Dear Ozbargainers

My Car's Odometer is at 105000km at the moment, (It is a 2012 Citroen C4) and it requires the 100k servicing and also a timing belt change.

I have been quoted $1200 and $1300 respectively. Is this the normal price for a timing belt change? I do not want to pay too much and I am on a tight budget at the moment.

Can anyone help me out with finding a more affordable but competent mechanic in Brisbane or Gold Coast who can replace timing belts?

It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

  • Yep that's pretty normal for euro major service inc timing belt. Its a real PITA to get to. Give J&J Autofix at Albion (3862 3057) a go on pricing. They do plenty of euros.

    • Oh yea… euro cars are a bummer when it comes to servicing.

      Thanks daft!

  • Make sure that price includes the water pump.

    • +1

      Yep. Cheers~

  • what i do is source the parts from overseas and get my mechanic to fit them

    he is happy

    i save money

just make sure you get all the gaskets, bolts (most you can reuse, but some not), belts, pulleys etc…. google it for part numbers

also remember you'll need coolant on top of and all the other fluids

    • The belt itself is cheap, the timing kit isnt that expensive either with the tensioner and idlers.

Its the labour to do it and the special tools required that cost an arm and a leg.

While you're at it, you'd want the water pump, as well as the accessory belt changed as well (with the tensioners)
