Find Me Fresh Taro (Yam) in Perth

I have never had to ask people to find me a bargain, and the first time I do it, it's for a vegetable!
My wife desperately requires fresh Taro (Yam) for a Chinese New Year food, but every year we have the same problem that we can't find it anywhere. It needs to be fresh, not frozen.

Can anyone suggest a place known to stock it in the Perth metropolitan area?

Have you tried the usual asian groceries store?, I assume you have but if you haven't try all the stores down marangaroo, girrawheen area, that is if you live near the area. The usual place I try for vegies is Nguyen Phat Farmer Jack in Girrawheen, they most probably have some depending what time of the year I guess. Else there's another in Mirrabooka, near the IGA shop, not where the major shopping centre, not sure what's the street name but it's a small shopping just off Beach Road heading west after Alexander Drive. Another I can think of is Spud Shed in Wangara, very unlikely but you can try.

    • Thanks. Yeah, I have tried Asian groceries stores, but so far no luck. Girrawheen is a bit far for me (I'm south), but I'd consider it if I knew they have it. May try to call a few. May also give Spud Shed a go, thanks for the suggestion.

      • No worries, good luck, try the few along William St if you headed that way, you probably have I assume.

  • Did you end up finding it?

Yup. A Chinese shop had it in Carousel. Spudshed did not answer the phone unfortunately.
