Comprehensive Insurance Recommendation for Brand New Mazda 3

Hi Guys, getting a new car thursday for myself and wife will be occasional driver. Will be using it just to drive to work and need Comprehensive insurance. Any help with recommendation on getting the best deal would be appreciated. I have bingle, budget direct, Coles, Woolies, RACV and AAMI on my shopping list.

Do a quote for all of them and choose the cheapest.

You hear bad stories from just about every insurer so it's hard to know which one to choose based upon service.

The only one I avoid is Youi as they make it almost impossible to cancel and phone you during an online quote with much hard sell. I just avoid.

  • Try http://www.comparethemarket.com.au they seem to come up cheaper than if you get a quote direct with any insurer.

    • Only support the budget brands. You'll want to look at the top tier brands for feature comparison.

  • Check the inclusions - hire car, windscreen etc.

We got a good quote from SGIO on our Territory

    • -1

      Territory…who buys Territory..??

      • Looking past the fuel economy, why not?

        • old, out-dated, pushing obsolete. You're a mug if you buy one, considering the competition

        • @ozyboy:

Bought it 2nd-hand for a very good price. Biggest middle-row seating (have 2 kids in baby seats and can still fit an adult) I've seen on an SUV. 6-Speed gearbox is bulletproof, 4L engine is just about the same and parts are damn easy to come by.

So tell me, what competition am I missing out on? Hyundai and Kia? Lol only if you're putting 3 midgets in that middle row seat!

        • @Spackbace: How about third row of seats is a joke. There is no - repeat: 'no' - leg room. In particular there is no depth, so it's just right for sitting with your knees in your eyes.

        • @ozyboy:

          Didn't buy a 7-seater, 5-seater came along for a bargain price.

So enough judgement from you about what people buy. Or is that how you value your life, by attacking others? Lol looking at what you're looking at I can tell you're not even looking at 7-seaters, so move along…

  • I used to change to the cheapest each year but for the last 3 years aami have remained the cheapest for me. Even scored cheap tickets to the football through them for being a member. Be cautious of youi. They offer a cheap policy the 1st yr then jack it up. Auto renewl applies to all policies. Basically they can increase you premium (which is expected somewhat) and if you dont cancel the policy it will autodeduct from your bank. They did it to me. Upped it $400. Youi…. "they'll get you"

    • when do you cancel your policy and do you have to do it early? Is there a small window you have to make sure you are covered without paying that extra 1 more day?

      • Yes you have to do it early - I think you can only cancel (advise of intention not to reknew) the following policy within 30days of renewl of the next with youi. The policy ensures your always covered

      • get insurance to start two days before your current expiry, and just cancel two days before, mtakes less time than doing a bog to get insurance online

  • Happy Australia Day.
I see your previous car was written off. How was your experience with the Insurer (if you had one) on that claim? If your happy with it, maybe give them another go with this car.
Other than that whoever insures your home for multi policy discount, or your states auto club, RACV / NRMA

  • i switchbbetween nrma and budget every year…as they go from 230 to 1200 every yesr… idiots.

  • Just a quick update guys if it helps you all. Went with Coles insurance as they beat any online price you get by $50 ATM.

  • They look pretty desperate to get new business so a good negotiator can strike a really good deal.

  • I'm with juicedpixles , just compare all and avoid Youi at all costs ( they are relentless with calls and have one of then worst PDSs, and are not that much cheaper anyway )

Try GIO ( part of the suncorp group that's owns, aami, just car, Shannon's, bingle, Apia, etc). and try CommBank(CommInsure ) too

  • Definitely avoid Youi. Their prices are terrible. Real insurance has been great for me. They always seem to be cheaper for the past 3 cars ive had. Plus you can say how many kilometers you will travel in a year and get a cheaper price.
