Have accumulated a pile of prepaid sim cards / starter kits from various carriers. Any suggestions of best carrier (vodafone, Optus, Coles, Woolworth, Aldi , Boost) to port out and back to Telstra ? Also, any ways to use up the $10 free credit that comes with prepaid Telstra phones without recharging. (I have 6 of the prepaid sims in the cupboard). Thanks.

You can't do much at all with the telstra $10 starter sims. If you plan to port just for these $10 credits I don't think its worth the effort.
I have accumulated a few Telstra $30 starter kits through Woolies and Coles promotions and my first one is due to expire soon. Want to find the best ways to use the rest.
If you are porting out from/in to Telstra to/from a non-Telstra carrier than they'll all be the same AFAIK. Only delays come with same carrier ports (eg. Virgin to iiNet as they both use Optus).
