Hi All..
Im wondering if anyone has seen the latest Sony HW65ES within the picture quality for both 2 and 3D ..?
Reason for asking is my mate just purchased a VPL-HW40ES for $2885 and i think that its fantastic for watching movies. Is spending $4915 for the 65ES worth the next model upgrade ..?
My initial budget is 4K and so do you advise to save the dollars and stick with the 40ES or is the 65ES worth the expenditure..?
Would love to hear back from anyone whos seen both projectors — Cheers..
The VPL-HW40ES is a fantastic projector, far better than anything else at its price point. The major difference in terms of picture quality when you step up to the VPL-HW65ES (or indeed the VPL-HW55ES it just replaced) is the adjustable iris which allows for deeper black levels once calibrated. This is appreciably better in a totally light controlled room, but if you are installing in anything but a dedicated home theatre space, the VPL-HW40ES is an excellent buy.
