Luggage for Business Use

Dear All

Just returned back to Kogan their not-so-tough "Orbis ultra tough" luggage set. (https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/orbis-3-piece-deluxe-ultra-toug…

Anyways, now I am looking to buy replacements, this time quality and style come first
1, for business use (Snap, professional looking like all black or all white, simplistic yet effective)
2, hardshell and really tough and a softside that really can pack and organise
3, spinner wheels on hardshell and normal on softsize
4, need 3 sizes, cabin+medium+large
5, no specific budget but definitely value for money. Can take a lesser brand but has the look and durability and toughness

What would you recommend to buy and where ?

Cheers!

I have quite many Samsonite bags in various sizes and they have awesome. Past 14 years I have had to throw away only one and I did travel a lot :)

Similar quality but maybe not a looker but cheaper, American Tourister, owned by Samsonite Corp.

    • Went to Myer yesterday to have a look and cannot agree more. Samsonite have got quite some design and organisation into their bags. What models of all those you own would you recommend the most? For business purposes (laptop suits etc) and general travel. Cheers

My most favourite one is the pro dlx which Richard Branson advertised as well. It is great for 2-3 days business trip and you can pack a suit as well and has a place for laptop and tickets etc. And it can be expanded.

It has lifetime guarantee and I have fixed the telescope handle and tires once for free already. Had it for 10 years now and take it with me 3 times a year for heavy travel.

Only thing I don't like about it is the telescope handle, it is a single pipe. You cannot place another bag on top of that bag, or you can but it is tough to move :)

I guess everyone has their preferences and I have perhaps 13 samsonite bags at the moment. 3 backbags, 1 laptop bag, 1 "airplane pilot" wheeled laptop bag (no idea of the model, but it has 3 sections and 2 smaller pockets and can be carried on shoulder also, same pro dlx range), 1 small travel luggage, 2 cabin luggages (one is the pro dlx) and 2 smaller bags to be placed on top of these, 1 medium size hard case travel luggage, 1 large hard case travel luggage and 1 soft fabric/leather expandable travel luggage.

It is awesome to travel when you can take exactly the luggage you need but it is pain at home to plan where to hide all of them :)

As I said earlier, it is sometimes worth while to pay for your luggage. I haven't been to anywhere to see new luggages for few years although my wife wants to buy a new one, but you should pay for quality and the functions you need. Samsonite Pro range (don't know the current name) is great as the luggage will last tough use for years. Tumi is great but too expensive so I won't be putting my money on that. Also the luxury Samsonite models are waste of money, with the fancy leather etc.

Luggages tend to be one of those things where you get what you pay for. If you use it often it's worthwhile buying a good one that will last. I would recommend American Tourister. Made by Samsonite but without the price.

    • I like the look of AT as well. Any specific models you would recommend? Where to buy?

      • I have the American Tourister Bon Air range myself http://www.bagworld.com.au/shop/detail/american-tourister-bo…. It's light, tough and it can expand. I can't recommend a place to get one now, but keep an eye out because they always go on sale.

        • Love the look of this range as well! WHat would you call a good price on them? Apart from bagworld where else I can keep an eye on for bags? cheers

@melfes: The 69 litre I bought for $120ish. Keep an eye out on at Myers who often have 20/30% off luggage's.

I'm a big fan of Antler these days have a soft case and a hybrid (Hydra) but was also originally looking at the Juno series hardhsells. Samsonite are also quite good Just a little pricier.

    • Thanks like the design pretty expensive tho

Yes expensive, more so now that the AUD has dropped against the USD, but you can usually buy cheaper through eBay, brand new unwanted gifts etc and the resale value is good if you want to upgrade change style etc.
