Best way to spend $500 on a Commonwealth Bank credit card?

I have till the 31st to spend $500 on my CBA credit card and I was just wondering if anyone knows the best way I can do this?

Currently I'm thinking of buying a $500 WISH voucher via entertainment, but other than that I'm stumped.

As I'm a true oz bargain guy I would like to not really make a purchase.

I'll give you a few of my bills that need to be paid. I get my bills paid, you spend $500, we both win

  • The answer is to find some way to spend the $500 later. What way is this? Well you already figured it out, you spend money buying a money substitute so you can spend it later.

Wish gift card would be best, since everyone needs groceries and petrol, and you get 5% off. I honestly don't think there's a better way to 'save' your $500 for later spending.

If you really don't want to go by this route, then start calling up big billers and see if you can pay early. e.g. call up your health insurance provider, or your car insurance provider, and ask them if you can pay for the next year's of insurance.

Or a Coles Group gift card if you're anti Woolwoorths :P

      • Unfortunately entertainment book no longer gives a 5% off for coles group gift cards.

No matter how anti Woolworths you are, if you're an ozbargainer, I'm going to bet that 5% discount will win out :P

        • Oh yeah I forgot that discount but 5% isn't enough to persuade me to buy such a giftcard for Woolworths at least;)

        • Coles gift cards can be had for 4% discount. It's not 5% but still pretty good

  • Wow. Love your financial position. I'm trying to work out how to save $500 each month from my credit card which always seems to come in higher than I think

  • Donate $500 to a worthy charity?

snort a gram of bad quality coke off a hooker's ass cheek.
i wouldn't look at it as a "purchase" per se, but rather the first chapter in what will eventually become a multi-million dollar book deal.

but in all earnestness, couldn't you simply buy $500 worth of goods from myer et al., hold onto the receipt, then return it for a refund after the 31st?

Do you have friends or family whose bills you can pay on the card, and them give you the cash or bpay directly back to the card account?

  • Order lunch for your workplace ;)

  • Groceries, petrol, top up your Opal card, new clothes, pay rent/mortgage, etc etc
