Suggest a Sedan <25k

Dear fellow bargainers,
I am looking for a new Sedan under $25K drive away.I am not after super/turbo charged engines, all i want is a car that can
accommodate a baby seat and two adults in the rear. All i can think of in my budget are Mazda2,honda city, toyota corolla.
Can someone suggest a good car (currently with some good deals )?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks mate!!!7 year warranty is tempting :)

Just no. Never ever buy a Kia. They are literally the shittest car brand available.

Is this just your opinion or are you claiming it as a fact? You need to get over the past and move on mate.

Seriously? Wheels and Drive? Why don't you just go to a Kia dealer and ask them if they make good cars. The fact is, that if you look at a heirs by of manufacturers with Ferrari at the top, Mercedes in the middle, Kia is on the bottom, with other pond dwellers like Hyundai and just above the mud that is Cherry.

        • +3

@thorton82: You're comparing Ferrari's with Kia's? What the hell man.

        • +1

@Ryanek: I gave up on talking to thorton82 a long time ago.

        • +2

          @tomleonhart:

Personally I hate kia and Hyundai, but I have to say that they are good cars now.
          thorton is wrong.
Nowadays they are easily way ahead of most other manufacturers.
I wouldn't buy one with my money, but anyone that puts their personal opinion ahead of facts, by saying 'i don't like them therefore they are sh#t', is an idiot.

@oscargamer: How are they ahead of other manufacturers? Have you seen the interior of any Korean car? It's like something for 15 years ago. Every European manufacturer is miles ahead of the Koreans technologically.

        • -1

@Ryanek: obviously I'm not. I'm comparing them to every other car on the market and saying they are at the bottom.

        • +2

@thorton82: I'm curious if you're against Wheels and Drive and disregard their reviews, where do you go to to seek advice on cars in Australia?

        • @Ryanek: international reviews. Australian automotive journalism is a joke. Seriously, they voted the Camira as car of the year. Read autocar magazine or Evo for something better.

        • +1

@thorton82: Autocar give the 2016 Kia lineups 4/5 stars and Evo has the Kia Proceed at 4/5 stars. Far from being the worst mate.

        • @Ryanek: They are still Kias. It's like buying A pair of aero sports. You just don't do it.

        • @thorton82: So why do brand new Ferrari's seem to be catching on fire all the time? Is that a feature that's going to filter down to the cheaper brands?

        • @sandman87: Yeah that happened a few times about 5 years ago. Ferraris are extremely reliable cars since the 550 Maranello.

I'd recommend a Mazda3, you could possibly stretch into an ex-demo or floor stock base model Mazda6 for around $27,000 if you were willing to stretch the budget

Otherwise if you really don't care what you're driving, the Corolla sedan is hard to beat from a pure metal-per-dollar perspective. Its got more interior room and boot space than a Camry from only a few years ago!

The Cerato is also a good option purely because of the huge warranty.

None of the above are very interesting or exciting cars, though. I'd be looking at a 3 year old Focus ST or an FG Mk2 XR6 Turbo for similar money. :)

    I'd get a Golf.

    • really?

      • Have you driven one? For the money they are good cars. Well built, nice interiors, handle reasonably well, decent power, and they don't look like you buy your clothes at Kmart.

        • had a GTI when that actually meant something

          also a GTD

          both very very good cars

          very good

now…wouldn't touch them with a long stick made of wood with brown stuff dripping off the end

          why?

resale…….who knows what they will be worth in 5 years

still good cars (even if bloated, under-powered, middle aged things)

if you can tell me what %age resale after 3 years, i'll be very impressed

Baby seat and two adults in the back? How often and how long are you driving with them in the back for? You might need to look at Mazda 6, Camry size. Once a Bub seat is in it gets pretty cost in there. I've got a 2003 forester and Bub seat with two kids is ok, but wouldn't want to take two adults for a long trip, especially if they are big adults!

Suggest you test for size before buying.

Mazda 3 maxx or neo easily in budget.

  • Holden Malibu or Commodore Evoke

  • Honda Jazz is pretty good if you're prepared to compromise on having two adults and a baby capsule in the rear… they have great storage and seating configurations to carry larger loads. Otherwise a Mazda 3 in diesel would be amazing. Super economical, powerful, roomy. Win all round
