Expansys Refusing to Replace a Dead on Arrival Item, HELP! (Nexus 9 w/ Keyboard)

Hi,

I recently got this deal Google Nexus 9 Wi-Fi 16GB & Refurbished Logitech Wireless Keyboard - $330 (with Coupon) @ Expansys. The tablet works fine, however the keyboard is broken, some if the keys will not type.

I emailed them and they said they would reply in 24 hours… I ended up calling them in 3 days, They said they would email me later, this is what they said:

61T6-0831-D055 - / Free Keyboad.
Dear ___________,

Thanks for your call earlier.

After checking confirmed that keyboard is for free and so therefore it's non refundable. You may either keep or throw away as you were saying but we will not issue any refund. We are sorry for your inconvenience.

Kind Regards,
CS Team

I don't want a refund, just a working keyboard. Is there anything I can do? Do I just take it?

Well, be careful how much you go posting on their site to start with. Not difficult for them to put 2 and 2 together and not be so helpful.

    Did you pay with Paypal?

  • No, I used credit card

    • Ok that makes it harder :/

      • To be honest I'm 90% sure I'm not getting that keyboard fixed.
Originally I tried to pay with PayPal, but it wouldn't work with them so I switched to cc.
This was a last ditch attempt.

can't see the original deal, but the cost of an item has absolutely nothing to do with DOA

file a complaint with your CC, as a DOA item

the fact they say it is a freebie is absolutely, totally irrelevant

it still has to work, and if it is DOA they are required to provide one that works

    your CC will know this

file a complaint and demand a replacement or refund

    • Good one, but it looks like they are going to send me a keyboard now so I won't have to worry about it now.

  • A generic BT keyboard is maybe $15.
I believe you at least have a moral right to get it fixed but also consider is it worth to disturb your inner peace by all the hassle for $15? Personally I would try and if I cant get a quick resolution just write it off and alert people here, then move on

  • As for inner peace, I think every time I look at the tablet and use it, I would remember being ripped off and feel angry. So it's worth putting in some effort to try something.

Well it might be solved now anyways, I got an email saying they are now sending me a replacement. Maybe they saw me complaining? It looks like it's all good now.

    Thanks for everyone's advice!

You bought on the fact it came with the keyboard as a bundle despite being "free". You are entitled to a working keyboard. Ask for it again.

    • I think they have seen me complaining about it - they emailed me to say they are now sending me another. So it's good now.

that's still not good enough, if they weren't dogs in the first place it would of never got this far. they are only sending you one to cover their arses because you went public with it, they clearly don't give jack shit about the end customer

        • True, but at least at the end I got what I paid for.
Tbh, I'm just glad it's over and I did not have to call my bank and CC. At least with my posts you guys can see what happened and make an informed choice with Expansys.

They are not the worst company I have dealt with - one company years ago, sent me the wrong parcel they lied to me saying they sent me the proper one that would be coming in the mail. I offered to send the wrong goods back but they wanted me to pay for their shipping. In the end I never got my goods, the wrong parcel was useless to me so I gave it to my brother. The point is I went public in that case and they didn't care.

  • I recommend OP to post a link to this forum on the original deal post.

  • We have sent you an email for replacement and you were glad about that. This issue is already resolved.
