does anyone have a recommendation for someone? We've found this to be not easy as these are not the in wall ones but the ones that sit on the ground next to the house about the size of a large dog kennel so most of them are either domestic or commerical hvac and hence expensive.

Check Ducting We had to replace ducting as the possums had fun ripping holes in the tubes. Cheep if you do it.by wraping R2 backed silver insulation.

When we had a further problem , our brand Acton could tell from model number if the unit was still under warranty [it was within 5 years by 2 weeks] Yea.
Thus it would be worth a phone call to brand suplier direct. Goodluck
