2x HD6950 2GB Crossfire Equivalence?

What would be the equivalence of 2x HD6950 2GB in today's offering, both from nVidia and AMD?

A bit slower than a 380 or 960. I'd say between a 370 and 380 but it would depend on crossfire scaling.

  • Would be a little better than a 6970. However, I had a 6990, which was 6970x2, and a 980 was a huge step up from it.

  • I went from 2 x 5850's (1gb) to a Stix 960 (2gb) and it does perform better. Main advantage is in games that don't have good scaling or don't support crossfire at all

  • You can always unlock the 6950 to a 6970 and unlock those extra shaders. Definitely worth a try. Could get a bit more performance than a GTX 770

    • I believe it's only possible with the early reference boards. I bought them almost 1 year after initial release and iirc I did look for flashing it but given up after finding this out. I'll probably use Afterburner to see how much I can squeeze out of them.

If i remember, best value for money for current cards are GTX970 from nvidia and i don't do enough research on AMD cards… lol

    • r9 380 4gb is a great deal IMO for ~$300

also I beleive new cards are coming from both parties?

      • nVidia Pascal is rumored to be April and AMD's Arctic islands is supposed to be Summer 2016 (so i think thats April or May?)

        • If northern hemisphere summer then more like June/July = our Aussie winter.

  • So not much of an improvement then if my budget is only around $300…

    • Not really… you need to go to $450 to get a 970 that would be way superior.

      Bought them @ $289 x2 back in 2011. 5 years on and losing 50% performance/price. I guess it's not too bad…
