  Anyone know if it's worth getting a usb 3.0 extension cable for this to perhaps reduce the ultra fit's heat? I'm assuming not being inside an actual device may help a little.

    I did that for my 64g drive, and it did make a difference, particularly on my laptop. The laptop has the USB3 socket right beside the fan exhaust, so little wonder it contributed to the heat.

  I've just got the one from the previous deal today. While it gets hot it still easy to remove since the plastic part doesn't get to hot. But the biggest issue is it keep disconnecting after around 10-15gb transfer. Which kinda defeat the purpose of having a large drive. I would try a bit more but if its still the same definitely going to return it
