Earphones for LESS than $60

In ear Earphones that came with my LG G3 have finally died after 12 months. Looking for some decent replacements. Will use for approx 2 hours a day - mainly on the train but do use while walking around.

Any suggestions??

thanks

I would recommend the 'Xiaomi Piston 3'. Quite cheap, you could get it on sale for less than $20 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/232679. Very well reviewed on Ozbargain and I'm sure anyone who has these would say they are great value. However, I'm not sure whether the buttons on the Piston 3's (play/pause/skip/etc) will work with the LG G3, better get that checked out if you decide to go ahead and purchase it.

    • The buttons on the Piston 3's are flaky at best with Android phones. And the microphone on them isn't fantastic (it can sound muffled if not positioned well).

But for the price they are awesome. Sound is incredible for the price point and they're very durable (I still have my v2 Pistons from over a year ago and gave them hell and they never broke). Definitely best bang for your buck earphones.

They'd easily compare to a $60 pair of earphones you'd get from a retailer in Aus.

    • Think I'll go with these but looks like they are no longer on sale.

      • I got these from Mushtato for $27 delivered a few days go. Not the best price I have seen, but it was local stock, delivered in 2 days. I then ordered 3 pairs of the Xaiomi Dazzles from Tinydeals for $6.50 delivered as backup for next time. Delivery is like 2-4 weeks.

        • I think $27 aint too bad considering its from local seller. Approx $25 on everbuying at the moment

if you going to spend <60 just stick to apple earphone they are much better then the others

    • There are plenty of better sounding earphones in the sub $50 than Apple's Earpods. Granted they're not bad for their price, but definitely not much better than the competition.

  • I am going to recommend the one that comes with LG G4, QuadBeat 3. I've moved from QuadBeat 2 (took my gf's one, since she do not like in ear ones), I am fairly satisfied with the move. I used to use Piston 3 before QuadBeat 2 and I used to have EarPods, which my gf currently uses.

That said, QuadBeat 3 have the worst, absolutely worst earphone tips I've ever come across. I'd recommend replacing it with Comply Foam tip, the silicon tips that come with it are simply so bloody mushy. Tips make it hard to get a proper fit, which causes several annoying issues like loss in bass.

I'd recommend those silicon guides that allow you to wear it over ear. Though this is optional. They reduce the rustling noise you get from the cable rubbing against your shirts. For the tips and silicon guides, I personally recommend aliexpress since they are fairly cheap there.

The tips and the guide costs around $5~6 at AliExpress, the cheapest option on eBay for the earphone was around $30 (which I don't know whether it is a genuine one).

Though that said, whether you like the earphone depends heavily on your taste, what I like may well be awful to your ears. That said, it's the budget earphone on the forum I go to (though it's not an Australian one, so they might not have the budget option we get). At least for me, it's the budget earphone that I will replace with the same one (Unless I choose to try out QuadBeats 3 AKG Edition). Slightly ironic since I don't even own any phones from LG, I only like their earphones.

  • Forget the Piston 3s

    Go with the KZ ATEs

    • Where did you buy yours and how much?

      • I got mine for 12 dollars on sale but they are regularly sold on eBay for 15.

  • Logitech Ultimate ears 400 - think they might be discontinued now - but these have very good sound reproduction enough bass with little distortion. Picked quite a few up at around the $20 mark don't know if they're still floating around, but I'd be willing to pay $60 if I lost them all. if you can find a pair cheap definitely pick them up.
