So ozbargin, I recently bought a house in QLD, Sunshine Coast, Nambour and now my mum has moved into there. I'm hoping to make some improvements to the home to raise her quality of living.
Items/services in mind are Aircon, Crimsafe/Security Doors and Solar Power.
Sadly all these things I don't know much about in the market but in ozbargin fashion I'd rather pay a reasonable/bargain price for them.

One off reno quotes?? I am only a few k's from you, but I could be a million. Every house and your requirements and budget are so different. You need to let your fingers do the walking. Yellow pages and get 3-4 quotes of what you want. Then choose wisely.
Air Con is in peak season, being summer already and very hot hot, yah love it hot right now, so getting a bargain will be difficult. Many options available plus they are full and busy so you might need a short wait so start ringing now.

Crim Safe doors are a specialty from Crim Safe installers only, and again for those and normal security doors, Yellow pages and get quotes. So many materials and options to choose so have plenty of your time ready for them.
Solar, see above two answers, although there are many online deals around trying to get Solar on before the Rebates disappear. Maybe google will be best here, Competitions Online etc.
I myself put my own split system in 8 yrs ago, reno'd and fitted triple lock screen security door on the front, but until it is down down further, or this Resort can get the feed in tariff, solar is not in the budget. You may not be able to any of these on your own as I did, but if you can the rewards are great, both $$ and satisfaction.
