Ridiculously good trade in deals, where are they?

Hey all,

Back in Nov / Dec 2007 there was some insane trade in deals with Game stores for old consoles to buy the new ones cheap.
I still recall the figures pretty well, it was so insane.
Xbox 360, $199 with a trade in of PS2 or Xbox 1 (OG) and 10 games, excluding <exclusions list, surprisingly not that big>
AND / OR
PS3, 40GB No BC model, $299 - same details as above.

You could buy an Xbox 1 / PS2 for $99 used from EBGames, cheaper on Gumtree and you could go to EB Games bargain bins, find 10 games not on exclusions list, for like $50.
Long story short, it was BASICALLY "$350 for an Xbox 360 or $450 for a PS3" - bear in mind the RRP was, IIRC $550 and $699 or something for those 2 consoles at the time, it was a CRAZY GOOD deal.

Where's the equivalent, ridiculous deal now? Closest 2 deals I've seen were fluke / ultra small qty (Kmart getting out of gaming, Xbox One for $150) and Dick Smith initial shutting down phase, $250 Xbox One.

Anyone spotted super ridiculous deals lately?

Wow, I've heard of living in the past but holy crap!

Anyone spotted super ridiculous deals lately?

As you say yourself, it's only during liquidations or crazy eBay sales. Neither major console is at end of life at the moment, no need to offer stupid prices.

    • Well it was the last console launch - the consoles were about 18 and 12 months old at that point in time (or 18 and 9?) - now they are about what, just over 24 months old. So it should be bargain time.

As for not offering stupid prices, they did last time, earlier than this.
