Additional Charges for New Mirage

Hi all
My wife is looking to buy a small mirage for daily use. Checked out carsales, there is a new unregistered one from a private seller for 11k (apparently bought when dealership closed down).
What would be the additional charges approx? I checked out rego fees, they are 770 (vic). And stamp duty is a further 440. Anything else im missing?

Thanks.

  • You'll need to pay for a roadworthy certificate from a licensed vehicle tester if you don't already have one.

VicRoads' fees for $11k car $
    Appointment fee $17.40
    Inspection fee $27.70
    Registration fee $277.70
    Transport Accident Charge $449.00
    Insurance Duty $44.90
    Number plates $34.80
    Motor Vehicle Duty $462.00
    Total fee payable $1313.50

And smart you will also get at least third-party property insurance, if not comprehensive insurance.

  • +1

aren't they only like $12,000 new?

OP should be buying a celerio instead if they want that sort of car - or, really, an ex-demo Honda jazz (the mirage is a truly horrid, tinny, impractically small and frankly unsafe car).

  • I'd stay away from something like that personally, too many questions.

Look for new or demo. Mitsubishi are one of the brands that are really bad for demo-ing a lot of cars at the end of the year to make their sales figures look better. No doubt there's many demonstrator models floating around with no kms.

Or, as above, look at a Celerio as it's cheap and cheerful, cheapest car to own and operate in the country :) ($12,990 manual/$13,990 auto) Hell, even a brand new Swift auto is $15,990 drive away

  • Great deal cheap charlie i wish that was auto.
Thanks for the feedback we have second thoughts re mirage.

  • I know hyundai had a deal on accent in december. 15990 driveaway. Would they do the same deal for a sedan version?

  • Thanks CC can you forward the link please? The best i can see in vic is a demo accent for 17990 (no cashback)
