Collision Damage Waiver for Rental Car Provided by Insurance Budge Direct

I am involved in a car accident and I am the party that is not at fault.

The driver at fault is with budget direct and provide me with a rental car from Europcar Hire.

Do you think I'd better take the Collision Damage Waiver from Europcar Hire or DO you think I can get one somewhere cheaper?

BTW, I have never involved in an accident when I am at fault in the past:)

Will travel insurance policies cover this? I think generally not as you aren't 'travelling' but an annual policy might be an option if you find one. It means phone calls or careful PDS reading.
I know that one of the road side assistance options used to offer this, but I think that stopped too.

Is it Euro Car Hire or Europcar Hire? If it's the latter they get pretty bad reviews about scamming people for damage to their hire cars. If it's the latter I would avoid them at all costs…

    • Europcar Hire. But it is free…

read the online reviews about Europcar and look at this one here … free or not you may wish that you never dealt with them

        • Thanks very much for your information. I am a NAB platinum credit card holder and have rental car excess reimbursement. It is only 200 dollars per claim. Do you think that I am covered?

Please note that my husband is the main card holder, while I am the secondary card holder.

        • @jiaqi518:
Check your NAB insurance policy but usually you have to pay for the car hire with the NAB card. In this case as the car is provided without cost to you, the NAB credit card insurance will probably not cover you.

I'd get something compass claims, when I was in a similar situation, I got a car that was similar to mine and paid no extra insurances or anything. Compass claims retrieve the money from the at-fault party. There are other players like Right2Drive etc that do this sort of thing.

    • That is exactly what it is. They are compass claims giving me a rental car from Europcar Hire

      • I don't recall them hitting me up for additional insurances
