Advice on Tool Kit Pricing

Hi OzBargainers!

So I'm looking to buy some tools for home.

Been very very keen on the Stanley Blitz Box Tool Kit 235 piece. I've always been a Stanley fan so that's why I have gone this way, I know theres Sidcrome, Kincrome etc but they're probably a bit too much for home use haha.

I was initially looking at the Stanley Fat Max Socket Set 141 pieces.

But i saw this and thought for an extra $70? It is almost complete since i've got screwdriver sets already.

Any suggestions/input? Is it worth $230?

Many thanks!

  • Blitz Box looks very plastic / fragile.
Fatmax container looks better, but does not have all three: 1/4", 3/8" & 1/2" Drives

    • Agreed, but only for home use.. Won't be lugging it around everywhere for onsite jobs etc. Will be more than likely be sitting on the shelf with the drawers being accessible.

    • Agreed, unless you're working on an old car or something you'll probably never need the imperial gear.

    • Agreed, but it's always good to have those tools you think you may never use hey? I often find myself performing work around the house, or working on my car only to realize cr@p! I should have bought that tool.

Love having a range of tools to prepare myself for any scenario with minimal draw-backs/downtime.

Majority of the tools will be for installing modifications on my car and bike haha :D

      • If you're playing around with the car or bike definitely go for more rather than less. There's nothing worse than having to get up and buy tools full price mid job. Even if you don't think you'll reuse them, you always do.

        • Agreed, i've always preferred to have more than less. I hate making multiple trips, period!

    • I am open to other suggestions for sure! These are just what i have seen on the Supercheap website..

I do prefer quantity and quality at an affordable cost.. Whether or not the kit is worth the money is another thing which is where i am seeking advice!

Around the home you would want some pliers, hammer, etc? E.g..

    • I've got them handy already.
