I choose all of my insurance based on the quality of the coverage and the company's reputation in claims processing etc. For travel insurance I always use TID. Saving $20 on a policy would be quickly forgotten if you got screwed-over in an emergency situation and/or had a significant claim denied.

eg Southern Cross is the secondmost likely travel insurer to have a dispute land with the ombudsman (FOS). Southern Cross (an entity of Mitsui Sumitomo) is somewhere in the middle. Travel Insurance Direct (an entity of Cerberus Special Risks) doesn't even have enough complaints to rate in the latest tables.

    See here.

TID, for the sake of $15 are you bothered.

and my 2 cents, travel insurance on C/C is worthless

    • why, uncle snake?

just think they are more restrictive with terms n conditions, just an opinion. id rather not muck around and get one directly

    • Last time I travelled overseas I looked at the PDS of travel insurance purchased from insurance company vs my complimentary credit card insurance and PDS was almost similar for both. I think credit card insurance was through Allianz

    • My experience with credit card travel insurance has been positive so far and the claims were with Zurich(Citibank Signature). Claims include a medical emergency and evacuation. YMMV

don't bother. Just go with TID.

You're heading into a holiday worth thousand of dollars and you worry about $91 ? :P

    Just go man.

Don't sleep with any sluts, don't get plastered and keep safe.

    • Damn, stuffed up before I even left.

  • since when does 28 degrees offer travel insurance?

  • My wife and I always use TID - she had an issue in the US trip before last and they covered EVERYTHING - like the final bill was 60K+ and they took care of everything. Good insurance is worth every penny and some. We have the CC insurance but always pay for the better cover, Can't recommend them highly enough

  • I know a friend who broke his leg while travelling in Australia without insurance. Expecting a bill of up to 20k.

Cannot figure out why someone would travel without travel insurance :/

  • Another vote for TID, esp with a discount code. As it's a fairly short time, there's not a lot of difference between the various prices, just the quality of the cover.

If you were looking for an annual cover, including the USA, I'd def go for TID.
