At the Petstock store in Camperdown in Sydney, NSW that I visited, the staff (not just one, several of them) carried on with a continually snide, snarky and mean series of none-too-subtle references to another large competing pet store. They never mentioned the opposition by name, but made it very clear who they thought their biggest threat was. Telling me that their competitor was American-owned and they were Australian-owned was probably designed - along with all the other mean and snarky comments - to encourage my loyalty, but it didn't work, I shop at the big yellow pet store.

    Yes, you're right. ASX Listed Greencross Limited. I've no idea why the PetStock folks wanted to slag Petbarn out for being "American".
    
    Interestingly, that page I've linked to also serves to explain why there's a veterinary surgery inside the Petbarn story in East Chatswood (Sydney, NSW).
