Can't seam to get any good deals on a gtx 970 anywhere, have been holding out for a while now. Nothing near the 20% ebay with $50 voucher on the gtx 970 for $401 last year.
Although I checked shopping express' listing for the MSI 970 Gaming and 2 people purchase at $259 at end of the year?

I'm not sure what happened there, but you'll never get it at that price.
Buying it from ebay with a 20% discount code is the cheapest way, but you might be waiting for quite a while for another one.
Perhaps you should go for another brand. I have had the Asus GTX 970 Strix for 16 months now and I've had no problems overclocking (slightly) and playing Triple A games. The difference in the major brands (Asus, Gigabyte, MSI) really does not matter at all despite what a bunch of reviewers say on the internet.
Its all down to warranty pretty much. EVGA seems to be the manufacturer that does big replacement (i.e. sending in a 560 for RMA and getting a 970 back, etc..)
@tatsulotto: EVGA have the best warranty and they also have pretty good build quality in relation to Asus/Gigabyte/MSI.
Seller probably accidentally put 259 instead of 529 when listing it.
$259 is a bs price. Can you provide proof?
THe AUD/USD will only get worse so you better pull the trigger soon or wait for Nvidia's new release of GPUs this year. .
