Don't need a talk-back function
Don't need voice record function

  • I know you said wireless wasn't preferred but this one is worth a look.

Very expensive to maintain. $40 for the battery for each camera every 4 months. Would prefer cable connection. An electrician would charge $200 for two points.

      • Did you come to a conclusion you can share about the best cameras?

      • Jaycar sell a set of 6 batteries for $17 - however you can also get rechargeable batteries.

My battery charger was $34 and the batteries were $24.50 for 2 sets (8)- both delivered from Australia.

        • Well I'm a bit late for this but which rechargeable batteries do you use? EBay ones?

  • https://www.foscamaustralia.com.au/ you can't go wrong with these cameras, usually they are cheaper on ebay.

  • xiaomi xiaoyi smart camera is <$50AUD

    • no storage off the device. i.e. if someone steals the device, and you're not watching the camera at the time, then you're stuffed.
    • Chinglish firmware, but it gets better each update. Requires a Mi account

  • My dlink cameras are ok. Firmware has improved over time. Can mix and match a variety of cameras.
Now they have a recording base but I haven't tried it

I use a Belkin wemo switch to turn them on or off.

Arlo seems to have turned up in the firmware of my router so I'm not sure if you need to buy the home base or if a cam and existing netgear wireless router will do. Battery seems an issue unless you really need no wires.

Read review on the apps before you buy anything.

  • I use hikvision camera and I find it to be reliable and has one of the best image quality out there.
It has an internal storage and can work wirelessly or wired.
