What happens after Work for the Dole

I've heard Work for the dole lasts 6 months, so I'm just curious on what happens when someone completes it. Anybody have any experience on what compulsory activities need to be done in the next phase and what is expected of the unemployed.

More "work for the dole" until you get a job.

Ps.It's easier to get a job then deal with centrelink.

Edit: Don't forget centrelink does provide funded courses that you can do instead of WFTD which can be added to your CV. I'm now a qualified Teacher Aide thanks to Centrelink and of course all the taxpayers..Thanks people👍

    • not fully funded I bet.

      • Yep..fully funded..however it was 2010, still worth asking.

  • Just out of interest, are you actively looking for a job? Because work for the dole doesn't really add anything to your CV. When I went through it years ago, I found it an activity that was to keep you occupied. You returned to normal activity afterwards until you "requalified" for WFD the next time.

I have a full time job already and just weighing my options should I one day be made redundant.

  • compulsory activities need to be done in the next phase and what is expected of the unemployed.

Im guessing to utilise the skills and the experience developed to find a full paying job?

    • not surprising that there a few who'd hire someone that did 6 months work for the dole given the stigma attached.
