Solar Powered Watch with Perpetual Calendar

I'm looking to buy a new watch. Process of elimination has led me to something that is solar powered, with perpetual calendar. I don't want radio controlled time setting as reports indicate that doesn't work in Australia. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Metal band would be preferable, with sizing service from the seller desirable but not essential.

  • Citizen eco-drive family?

  • Citizen, Casio and Seiko are the only mainstream brands I know that have solar powered watches.

  • Yes, that was the conclusion I was reaching. I was wondering if anyone had any particular experience with any of these. Casio seems less expensive but not as nice looking as Seiko and Citizen. I'm probably leaning towards Citizen, but some of the online stores don't offer the Citizen 5 year warranty. Perpetual calendar limits the choices, but changing the date at month end isn't something I want to do. The price variation for the same thing between sellers is amazing, with some offering obscure and obsolete models. Sundial on the wrist is starting to appeal!

  • Definitely Citizen

    choose model then shop around

for example RRP of AT8110-61E is $899, but a quick search seems to indicate you can get for about $500

  • Starbuy always include the 5 year warranty with Citizen watches and they are well regarded here on OzBargain. They post specials here every 3 or 4 months.

  • I have a Casio Protrek Titanium prg110t since 2008. The battery bar hasn't dropped once. Watch has gone through lots of abuse. Simply love this watch :)

  • Cheapest on ebay is the Citizen Eco-Drive BL8130-59A and its a very handsome watch (citizen have some of the brightest loom too)

I have a lot of watches but my favourites include the BL5250-02L-AU as i like the one way dive bezel!

this Titanium in black is bad ass! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Citizen-Eco-Drive-Perpetual-Chron…

I live near the ocean and go swimming a lot and if you do too, maybe look for a casio that is solar and does tides instead as ALL digital watches are perpetual by default!
