Need something better than HTC M8, any suggestions?

Had m8 for about half a year, the only problem I am getting is 16GB Rom.

HTC company apps takes up majority of the ROM, and some apps can't install on SD card.

Making this phone super slow. And unusable when some apps must run on ROM.

Didn't want to go iPhone.

Any suggestion for an UPGRADE? with big memory and good camera , big screen.

I use Zhuyin input, so an easy to use input would be awesome.

Thanks

  • around ~300 -xiomi note 3 or zenfone 5. Or are you after any specific brand

    • No specific brand.

Just something with heaps of storage. Prob 128GB or at least 64

  • Take a look on Sony Xperia Z5. Its great phone: microSD up to 200 GB, Internal 32 GB, 3 GB RAM or
if you have a lot of money go for Samsung Galaxy Note 5: no memory card slot but Internal 128 GB, 4 GB RAM, and huge display!

  • +1

Convert the HTC to a Google Play Edition running Android Marshmallow, and then add an SD card.

Marshmallow introduces "adoptable storage".. Which can make the SD card is indistinguinshable from ROM storage…

    • Problem is that he'll most likely have to fork out $30 for Sunshine, unless he hasn't updated his device in a year or more

      • Still makes OP about $470 better off than buying a new handset just to get extra "on device" storage.

  • Flash Cyanogenmod (or if you value the camera) a GPE edition ROM. Its actually ridiculous how bloated Sense/TW/etc… is, when CM is still a 200mb download, the same as it was 3 years ago on a Galaxy S or a Desire, when the manufacturer's ROM has bloated to 1.5-2gb+

    • Any suggest on easy to follow and impossible to stuff up website with procedures on this?

      • If you follow the instructions correctly, you can't stuff it up. Problems usually arise when people gets confident and skip step, or forget to do steps by not double checking the procedure.

        Follow this: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_m8

(Ignore the S-OFF section. Its unnecessary unless you want to do a full conversion, allowing you to receive OTA updates. Depending on how often you update your phone, you also might have to pay for the tool)

Once you have the custom recovery installed, do a backup. It'll let you restore the stock HTC Sense system should you decide you want to go back, without having to redownload

In the 3rd section, instead of downloading Cyanogenmod, download the ROM from scubacoles's post, in the Flashable Stock GPe ROMs section.

  • I'm going with Nexus 6P within this month.

    I don't expect a huge shock when I upgrade from M8 to 6P.

The thing that I need is large screen and front facing speakers.
