Cheap OTG capable phone

What is the cheapest android phone with OTG capability?

We currently use a Samsung S3 as an uploader phone for our child's medical device (for those interested so I don't have to explain: http://www.nightscout.info) but it's on its last legs.

To replace it we need 2 phones, one is used for charging the batteries only and the other goes to school, so I don't want to be spending big money on brand new phones that will get bumped around and possibly stolen.

Are any of the cheap Andriods from Woolies or Coles OTG?

Thanks everyone.

I don't think most of the budget phones currently sold here in Australia support OTG.
I checked the Huawei Y series— none have it. Neither did the LG Fino or the ZTE Blade G lux. Not even the budget Samsung Galaxy J1

OTG is usually a feature found in higher end handsets, like your Galaxy S3.

But China-phones usually have them and the cheapest I can think of is a Xiaomi Redmi 2. They're 4.7" budget phones sold for $120 AUD.

They have roughly the same computing power as a Huawei Y550 as well as 4G connection, so they aren't slow, but has a hum-ho 2200mah battery.

    • Perhaps the Xiaomi Redmi 3 for the OP then? A significant upgrade for $100 more, with a significantly better battery life.

      • Problem: he needs two, so two Redmi 3's means an extra $200 more. One of the phones is basically used as a charging dock for the battery, so it wouldn't make sense to buy two high end phones and only use one of them.

  • Almost every China phone is OTG compatible and cost much less than the Xiaomi Redmi series. Many list OTG in their specs and are around $100AU.

  • Thanks everyone, I feared that this was the case. The phone is used for nothing but uploading data up to a website so it doesn't need anything fancy, but a longer battery life would be great as currently we have a rotation of 3 batteries to keep the device going 24/7. I'll check out the Xiaomi ones, thanks!
