What Phone to get? (Must be Android)

Hi Guys,

So my Galaxy S5 has been playing up and the battery barely makes to through a normal working day.

Can anyone reccomend a decent upgrade?

My main requirements are

  • Works as a smart phone…
  • Removeable battery
  • QI wireless charging

Suggestions… GO!

    LG G4.

    • ooooo i like this

    • Quite interested in the LG G5 from the rumors… though I don't think I like the new price tag… (apparently rumored to be $900 US)

      • Like most Android flagship phones, it will be 900 at launch, down to 700 after a few months, and then 600 after half a year.

They would't price it at $900 forever, because the laggards (the last people to adopt a new product) wouldn't buy the phone otherwise.

The exception applies to iPhones since they have a IOS 'monopoly' and can do whatever the hell they want with pricing without adversely affecting sales. Hell they even want a monopoly on phone repairs.

        • Yeah but thinking it being an LG phone, I was hoping it would be priced around $700 US lol

They seem to be a lot cheaper than other brands

    • Needs the case for Qi charging, but yes, the best bet.

IIRC $538 in a recent deal.

Or, wait 2 weeks for the Galaxy S7 to see if that meets your needs.

    • judging by the way they went with the s6 i have a feeling removeable battery is not going to be an option

      • Yep, I think Samsung is only going to add removable batteries to A series judging from rumours.

        • I think most mid to high end phones are going with non removable batteries these days. Including the 2016 Samsung A Series (already released in same countries). According to the specs from GSMARENA

Try complete reset using either KIES3 or Smart Switch (whichever applies to your phone), and/or replace battery and see whether that solves the problem first?

    • have already done this. The screen is cracked as well and sick of all the bloat on the phone

      • Well, sounds like you are up for a new phone then.

If a removable battery is a must, LG G4 I think is the only one that I can think of (That said, I don't go into Chinese handsets, so there probably are better value options out there). That said, LG G4 I think requires an accessory to do Qi charging or you could mod it in easily.

        • oh your right, Its not standard. I have always been worried about these dodgy DIY QI stickers =/

        • @letthiswork1: If you don't mind non-removable battery and don't mind a big phone, Nexus 6 is fairly cheap right now, thanks to eBay 10% off.

        • @Oversimplified: I saw that which prompted me to ask this question. I just feel as though the s5 is big enough i wouldn't want to go any bigger, Wouldnt fit my phone mount in car etc

    • He is right, try to hard fact reset, and start again as brand new phone.

  • Yanno, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and quite frankly it's the only phone that I'll be keeping after it's off plan. It's water resistant, has expandable storage, removable battery, decent camera and is fast. All new offerings don't have what this phone does. Yeah they all look pretty but where is the flexibility that the S5 has? You'd be able to pick up a new S5 cheap as chips nowadays and Telstra has a BYO unlimited plan with 10GB of data for $70 a month on a casual plan.

  • Agree LG G4 is a good bet but id go for the LG V10.

Other then that I'd wait to see the new phones coming out at the big event.
