Combine this with the 10% off Myer gift cards at the moment through Lumo Energy's Ameego program and you get 28% off!

    • Do Lumo have a physical store to get the gift cards from? I'm thinking by the time they're delivered the sale will likely end…

    • You mentioned there's a 1% credit card fee, so it's more like 27.2% off.

target, bigw and possibly toysrus pricematch toys - sometimes an easier option rather than navigating myers

      Myer.

      :P

Myer's stores? Eg. More than one

        • -1

Don't think you need an apostrophe - so it'd just be Myers.

        • @Pulseidon: Not sure why I'm getting negged - say you were gonna visit all the Target stores in a city it'd be "I'm going to visit all the Targets", not "Target's"

        • @Pulseidon: Maybe for being a pedantic bastard? :-)

They won't pricematch "% off" sales though

      • That doesn't sound right. It's not like you need a voucher, you can just show the price on the Myer website. I'm not sure if you need to add it to cart to show price because the Myer site is terrible, but even then I don't see on what grounds they would not price match. Most sales in any store is x% off y items.

That said, maybe they do refuse a price match like you said, but I just think it would be ridiculous.

EDIT: speaking of useless price matching, I tried to price match at a baby store once. They said no because they only price match other baby stores. I asked what constitutes such a store as it's very vague and any store that sells baby items would technically be (at least in part) a baby store by my definition… She couldn't answer me. The store I failed to match was Harvey Norman, so nothing crazy. Price matching policies tend to have more holes than swiss cheese.

        • Not really. Most of the time an advertised special would be "X item, was $50, now $40!" which you can take into a store, and say 'hey this other place has it for $40'. But in my experience the stores generally don't pricematch a % off sale, probably because it would be a pain for them to check the price at the other store - I've never worked retail so don't know for sure.

          @Captain Obvious:

If it's Myer their ultimate get out of jail free is to claim the competitor price is below their cost price (which they won't disclose).

I tried escalating a complaint about this and got nowhere.

        • @gadgetguy: yeah, it's pretty much a case of they say they'll match it, but if they don't feel like it they won't. I don't think there's any obligation to actually price-match, just a marketing gimmick really.

      • they will as long as they can see the discounted price on the site

      • I've had target match BigW on lego on a 20% off sale before, showed them the price on the BigW website at the checkout and they matched without any fuss

  • The only problem is they don't seem to have any of the bigger sets in stock.
If they had Detective's office right now, I'd jump at it.

    • Same, I was looking for some of the duplo train ones -most are gone.

The Myers website is a real pain for that. Sets don't just show out of stock, but full on vanish.

They potentially do in store, not the website… they had Detective Office, Palace Cinema, Parisian Restaurant and Slave 1 at Perth Myers… though they are holding all except Slave 1 at the moment until they fulfil all the wait list orders..

      • I've checked Brisbane CBD Myer yesterday and they only had 1 Parisian Restaurant. No other big sets.

        • +2

Well Myer Perth was unboxing them all, so they may have kept them off the shelves until today perhaps.. They were unboxing heaps of Detective Agencies and a few Palace Cinemas.. I actually put my name down and they called about an hour ago so I have the cinema on hold. I guess each store will be different.

        • @sarakoth:

Thanks for the info. I might check out other stores as I really want to pick up Detective agencies before they become hard to find in retail stores @ 20% off.

        • @sarakoth:
Thank you so much. There were no big Creator sets on shelves yesterday so I might have missed out if I hadn't seen your comments.
I was surprised to see around 3 Sydney Opera House sets.
There were scalpers picking up several Slave 1 sets, but a few remain.

        • @Max Power: I went back into Perth late today and got a Cinema and noticed they also had a few restaurants, so I grabbed one of those as well. I saw the Sydney Opera House… wow that looked amazing… and also the Big Bang set that wasn't there before.. spoke to the guy… they were just deliveries happen to be today and most stock came in after lunch for some reason.. he was a bit annoyed because he would have preferred them out on the shelves of course rather than fielding lots of phone queries, taking order requests and the like.. there were heaps of detective agencies, a few Slave 1's, a few restaurants and 3 sydney harbour bridges left at 6pm today.. quite a few had been put on hold and the guy will only hold until COB tomorrow, so some others may come up as well… again only talking about Perth CBD store.

    • Last Christmas Myer (Parramatta, Sydney) stocked the Cinema Palace and Slave 1 coupled with 20% off. Neither were on their website. So I'd go instore to see what they have.

    Ripoff to begin with.

My kids play with rocks. Real life legos.

    • I'd like to see them make GBC's out of rocks…

      Lego*

      • And while we are nixing dubious plurals; vinyl* and my kid plays in goal*.

        • +3

But it's not dubious at all, it's 'Lego'

  • ah only simpson… no other rare lego items.. useless

    • Incorrect, there are no rare LEGO sets. The rare sets such as the 10179 UCS MF are no more.

      • I think he means big ticket items like the modular and rarer Creator series like Detective's Office or Mini Cooper, which haven't been stocked for several months.

  • FYI I just went into Big W

They do not price match % off sales/discounts.

  • Bah! Very unimpressive pricing. None of the newer Nexo Knights sets are included and I've seen cheaper pricing elsewhere. Even Big W are cheaper with the Lego city starter sets going right now for $10.
