  • looks good - do you know the 'drink by' date for the beer on the shiraz deal?

  • Re: the sav blanc - It'd be a good deal if you know you will enjoy the wine and the beer. I enjoy the beer but the wine is an unknown quantity for me. I'm quite happy with the dans marlborough cleanskins ($70/doz) so if this was equivalent quality, it'd be a good deal. Worse quality… no deal, better quality, great deal…. if that makes sense

Skye cellars have been using this marketing model for years. They flog off two products as a 'pair' at what initially looks like good value when you add up the two RRPs together - one is a popular, 'known' product, and the other is usually an unknown discount wine flogged off on Grays etc (see here for Pioneer Road: http://www.graysonline.com/wine/pioneer-road). I guess it's an ok prospect if you plan to drink both.

picked up a set, thanks OP. Vale ale beer is really good and I've never seen it on sale personally. Gamble on the wine… Hopefully pays off.

I got some cheap wine with beer previously - wine was filthy (used it in a fruit fly trap) but the beer was great and basically rrp of beer was all I paid. Won't get any again unless I know the wine

    • i've drank a lot of different cheap sav blancs. Its rare that anything is truly horrible unless its spoiled, but at the same time there is a lot out there that is truly good at a very low price

      • Not saying it's a bad deal, just that in my experience the wines were poor. Very subjective topic! Still drinkable, but I'd rather not drink a wine if it isn't tasty to me. I didn't mind too much as the included beers still made it a good deal. Comment was to provide some feedback.
FYI i just checked and the wines were, 'desperate measures' coonawarra cab shiraz and 'seven fourths' Margaret river Shiraz.

  • For the price, I am happy to give it a shot. I know the beer will be good, so I am happy to effectively spend $80 to try the wine. Thanks op!

  • It's worth mentioning in the body / title that there is free delivery for mainland Australia.

  • I've got a couple of these deals before with 3 cartons of Vale. Both were with reds and were fantastic.
