Not too bad, some may use as cheap Easter presents (assuming they'll be eaten quickly). However, it looks like you have the best before dates aligned with the wrong products in your description. :)

Thanks evil- elmo. I am still new to this jst my 2nd post:P I have changed that now. Thanks

  • Can't order 2 and pick one of each pack? :(

edit: ah you can, i just shouldn't of added quantity…

    thanks.

    • yes you can, just add the item twice then select the type for each item

    Shame about the expiry dates.

    • +1

there's an easy way to make sure you never hit the date…!

    • there's always a reason behind unbelievable bargains

  • +1

The "best before" date is too close. And as far as I remember their delivery took a very long time maybe more than 2 weeks, which will make the expiry date even closer. Dunno if this is worthed though.

  • Hmmm, my local Coles has the 16 pack Ferrero Rocher on clearance at the moment but the price didn't compare well to the $9.95 bigger box still on offer. Maybe this size is discontinued, or perhaps just a glut of near expiry packs still kicking around? Think I'll pass on this.

    • dont forget the postage
      its 7 bucks!

    • the "bigger" box is just three packs of 16 anyway.

  • don't forget that this is a "best before" date, not an expiry date.

seems like a good deal for giving to friends, family and coworkers for easter.

I'm going to go for a couple of each.

    • True, it's only best before date and I'm sure it would taste the same after 18/3/10 as it would taste eating them now or a few weeks ago.

I will be ordering a few to giveaway to clients when they come into my shop.

  • Well…. I bought 10 for me and my mates at work. They've got a $7 shipping cap. So all up we spent only $106.45. $10.65 for 3 boxes of Ferrero Rocher. No complains abt the before before date :)

  • How much are these normally? I've never bought these before.

    • +1

Point 1, not out of date at date of purchase.
Point 2, out of date doesn't include 'best before'.

      • -8

        Incorrect.

Packaged food past their BEST BEFORE date cannot be sold.

best before is different to use by - please read the comments made to you before replying and repeating what you've already had pointed out as incorrect :D

        • +2

          but ur missing the point
IT ISNT PAST IT'S BEST BEFORE DATE!!!

        • are you for real? there is another 4 weeks left till it hits the best before date.

        • +1

Referring to 'best before' on video stating 'can be still sold or eaten a little while after that'.
Why did you contradict your own argument?

    • it's not out of date tho

        • +1

why don't you actually listen to the source you are quoting? It clearly states they are different and that you can sell products after best before dates

          • @SydGuy: Yeah, I watched that video too, and the voice over clearly distinguishes between 'use by' and 'best before' - maybe, rather than blind linking, you could try watching what you're telling us is your source? No-one is disputing that selling food after the use by date is illegal :D

Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure today is still March, not April :P

            • +1

@Mazley: He's just trolling, he posted it twice for more responses.

        • the product doesn't hit the best before date for another FOUR WEEKS. why are you even bringing this crap up? stop trolling.

    • Was this just statement in general Profiteer, or do you think CoTd are selling out of date food?
I notice that you're not a fan of CoTd - care to share why :D

    • It's not out of date yet!

  • -2

Wow, you've actually included the Best Before date this time.

Why, may i ask, did you fail to mention this when you offered '2 x packs of Retin-Ox eye cream' that has an expiry date of '05/2010' a couple of weeks ago? Yes its roughly 6 weeks away, but I bought 2 lots which there is no way I'll be getting through in that time. I'd be lucky to get through 1 let alone 4.

Why? Because you knew you wouldn't sell as many if you did right by the consumer and included this info. And you knew full well people wouldn't be bothered to waste their time chasing this up for the sake of $10. But collectively if you sold thousands you win your end.

Oh, and the 40 pack of Chupa Chups has "for sale in Vietnam Only" clearly written on the pack.

COTD = permanently deleted from my bookmarks!!

Did I miss something here? I don't think the OP is a store rep, so it's not really his fault.

However, I don't see how this merits a negative vote, even though the store may not be up to your standards but it's still a bargain nonetheless.

    • I think it's nice you put a lot of trust in the community, but it's still probably a good idea to read what you purchase before doing so. Also, am I the only one who uses things like this after the use by date? I think I still sniff a vicks vapour rub that expired in 05, and it still does the job :P

      • I try to avoid using stuff with use-by dates on them, but others (like biscuits) with best before dates, I just use my judgement. If they're still ok, then no worries.

I also wonder as to why people always bring up the issue of use-by/best before dates AFTER their purchase. Surely when they buy stuff they look at the dates before going to the counter??

        • yeah, my point exactly - if you can't take the extra 6 seconds to read about a product, you kinda lose complaining rights - but having a whinge does make us feel a little better :P

  • DON'T BUY IT THEN, It has become apparent that ozbargain members like being vocal

  • +3

I won't buy anything eatable/drinkable from Catch - they are commonly close to best before / expiry. In the past I have had these choc at $5 from safeway with 6 months expiry left

  • Coles $4 each

  • +1

If you even get what you ordered. I've had 2 orders get 'misplaced' by them recently. Very poor attitude when queried about it too.

  • Option A: 48 x Ferrero Rocher - sold out!
Just ordered a few packs of Option B: 48 x Confetteria Raffaello instead.

  • i LOVE raffaellos. and to those who said you are not meant to sell expired products, THEY ARE NOT EXPIRED!

  • Its not an EXPIRY date, its a BEST BEFORE. Meaning the taste and quality won't be as good before the date. Its still edible and taste difference would most likely be negligible

  • +1

I missed out, i was home sick and had a afternoon nap and i missed the ferrero rochers, i prefer them dramatically to the raffaellos. Its all because of ozbargain telling too many people!!! ;). On the argument of best before or expiry etc, a few of my friends work for nestle and a couple for Sara lee. They always send me specials from their staff only store / purchases. As far as they used to tell me, they werent allowed to sell anything after the expiry OR Due Date or Best before. BUT they also told me for most products like confectionary the items are generally fine after the date but that the company cant promise the taste / quality to be exactly as how they created it to be… But they were never allowed to sell it after the date.

With Cotd, only thing i will say is their customer service has dropped somewhat since when they first started where they would help out to fix faults or problems quicker. Also I am a bit disappointed when a few of my purchases (chupa chups was a good example but also toothpaste) turned out to be from vietnam or another asian country and it was only designed and meant to be sold there than anywhere else like australia. AND they never mentioned that it wasnt an meant for Australia product on the packaging. The thing is the taste and texture and even ingredients is actually quite different and ….who knows about quality control either. If they are going to sell those kinds of products thats fine but they should state it on their website. I always thought it was the normal Australian product.

  • There's a cadbury factory which sells boxes of chocolate for $15, of things like picnics, mars, crunchies ect. when the best before date was either coming up soon or had already passed. Me and a few friends were eating them at least a month after the best before date advised, and they still tasted delicious. So you shouldn't be too paranoid. Like people have said, it's a best before, not an expiry. Just hope they don't take too long to get here.

  • perfect easter gift for tightasses. just hope it doesnt taste kinda funny lol

  • sold out :(

  • yummo stale chocolate cotd strikes again!

    • How are they 'stale' when its not even past their Best Before or Use By Dates?

  • +4

Personally I find there's quite a bit of difference from the ones which are months old (not past best before date yet) and ones that have many months left before the expiry, it's true that old ones still taste ok, but if you do a side to side taste test then there's no comparison

Also with cotd you get what you pay for, there's always a catch so to speak, it's not really cheap, just junk most of the time

    • Yes, that's doubly true with any chocolate with nuts in it …. huge difference in taste and texture.

  • I bought some from their most recent catchathon. The chocolates are ok, but it seems they have been dropped/melted somewhere along the way because each one is broken and has that white-ish film on it. Still tastes fine and I don't mind, however it might be a bit dodge as a gift.

Note that these may be a different batch to the ones I received

  • Thank You all for your comments

  • Were they Australian stock? Darn, so annoyed I missed this one.

  • they have these at quite a few coles express petrol stations for like 9.95 a pack. cos they expire in april too. the two coles express shell petrol stations near wallsend, nsw. have these in stock. I think its also in stock at the petrol station next to westfield kotara. =]

  • They were 9.95 at coles at christmas… not really that much of a deal

    • 9.95 for 3 x 16 packs?

  • Just got my order today, chocolates were still good!

  • Yep got mine too, they taste beautiful. Wish I bought some more, they would have made great presents.
