Best BYO Plan for $40 and under

Currently with Telechoice on the $38 plan - 8gb data and unltd calls and text. Issue is …their service is a joke - screw up bills, shut off internet and dont reply to internet. I currently have a complaint raised with the TIO so I want out of the contract asap.

There is a good deal with telestra $40 plan which is usually $50 and a and the $40 plan with Virgin.

Telechoice only has telstra 3g for data which is horrible - always drops out. thinking of going with Telstra for the 4g relaibility

Any other good options….with a good provider?

Vodafone $45 plan? $5 discount if you haggle with the call centre person, OR if you're a student. Oh. You may be eligible for 8000 bonus QFFs.

    • What's QFFs?

      • Qantas Frequent Flyer Points?

        • My bad. I don't fly Qantas much, so it wouldn't help me. I go for Tiger and Jetstar.

        • @virhlpool: you can use QFF for Jetstar.

  • Not sure about your needs but i'm switching over to telstra freedom plus ($30 a month) which comes with 3gb data, $700 calls, unlimited sms and $200 international credit. It also comes with $30 recharge credit which i can use for the google play store, this is the sole reason why i'm making the swap as I get $30 to spend each month for "free" on whatever i want (in game purchases, google play music, apps, games etc). There's also more expensive deals as well. So if you happen to have an android phone, i'd recommended this plan.

  • I dont want to seem as though I'm hijacking this thread but does anyone know any plans at the $25pm price point (Telstra carrier) that are any good?

I got Voda BYO plan for $35 after haggling with the call centre when their promo was on a few months back. $35 includes:

    • Unlimited text and calls within Aus
    • Unlimited calls to 10 countries (list is on their website too)
    • 90 mins global calls (excluding those free countries)
    • Unlimited global sms
    • 7 GB of data

Voda sometimes has nice promos! Above plan is totally worth it and I am enjoying it.

PS: I make a decent use of free calling to those 10 countries as I have relatives in the US, India and Malaysia.

      Pretty sharp deal!

    • Yeah nice deal. Didnt think theyd haggle over the phone.

How you finding the voda network these days?

      • Well, more than haggle factor, they had a promo going on already and at that time they were generously offering some discounts on the post-paid plans. Network is pretty good in and around Sydney. Never faced any problems.

    • Is this on a contract or month-to-month?

      • month-to-month!

        • even better!!! May give them a call when i get out of this telechoice contract and see how keen they are for the business

  • 6 business days and still no response from telechoice after requesting escalation via phone, the TIO and an email. Ridiculous!

  • Uhhh. Why don't you get a prepaid 6 month plan with Boost Mobile? Same network but far cheaper…

    • You did check the date of this thread before replying, didn't you?

The mobile value equation has moved on a lot in the last 3.5 years…

  • optus.

    50GB per month
    unlimited call / sms
    5hours international calls
