  • God almighty their web site has been so bad this week. Each time this week some deal has turned up and I've gone to order it keeps crapping out when I log-in so I just give up.

    • Do you get a memory error only while logged in? They have some problems with accounts needing to be reset. You can contact them to reset it. Happened to me twice.

  • +1

Man these guys have had a lot of these codes lately. What's the deal? Are they going broke or something else?

    • They are probably wondering why no-one is ordering from them online. And haven't twigged the website is stuffed…

Or am I alone trying to login unsuccessfully this week. I have emailed them.

      • it has happened to me a few times. They will reset your account when they get to your email.

        • I get the same error even if I go the the "Contact Us" page though.

I just emailed them to the support address on my last order. [email protected]. Waiting to hear back though.

          @Mobe1969:

Yeah i could only go to the website while not logged in. Once you've tried to log in its all downhill.

        • @krimovtartar:

Yeah thanks for that. I ended up calling and they reset something and all good now.

        • Agreed, the system is horrid.

I have also errored twice now.. $ taken but no order
Had to email and inform them. They were quick about it though.

Whoa! Only $73.20 for the Drinkwell Platinum Water Fountain: http://www.petbarn.com.au/drinkwell-platinum-pet-fountain.ht… including Postage!!

I cannot recommend these enough, especially for Boy cats. A full tank lasts 3-4 weeks for two cats but I recommend not putting through the dishwasher as it's just too harsh. It can handle it but hand washing will keep it in top condition for many years. I've owned one of these for over 10 years and it ran 24/7 until I decided to replace it with an identical unit as the original was starting to get pretty shabby… but that can mainly be blamed on putting it through the dishwasher several times in its life. Our cats absolutely love it and so do most of the friends cats we've recommended it to but be warned, some cats may not like it as much. For $73.20 it's definitely worth the minimal risk so "Do Yourself a Favour" and get one :)

Hmmm sounds tempting for our dog - with a baby on the way we might be more prone to forget. Does it run off power or perpetual motion :P Any idea of the power use?

      • Small to Medium dog then yes. Cleanliness is king so you do have to keep it clean but as long as it's indoors and you clean it fully each time you refill it (approx. 15-20 mins worth of hand-wash effort) then I can assure you it will continue to run for 10+ years as ours did… and it still wasn't dead anyway, I just replaced it as a preventative measure. Power Supply & Pump consume about 2W which equates to around $5 per year if left running 24/7.

      • I read a few reviews on Amazon. You have to take it apart and clean the filter twice a week, or once a fortnight (depending on the reviewers opinion). Someone said you have to run the pump in the sink with soapy water or vinegar when you do this

I'm still pretty tempted though haha

        • I got the PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic one. I am not so much a fan of plastic. I do clean and refill it every second day. I don't put filters in it either as I'm always changing the water. I use filtered water in it though. I'd probably get a stainless steel one but not sure if fussy cats would like drinking out of metal.

        • Nah. A fill usually takes our two cats 3-4 weeks for them to get through and as long as there's no food or other foreign matter floating around in the bowl then I only do a full clean whenever I need to refill it… and they're both very long haired cats too! Cleaning it twice a week is extreme. Maybe once a week or once a fortnight if you're really concerned or have filthy animals.

    • Looks like they're editing the website as my link above is now broken. If it doesn't work for you then try this one instead: http://www.petbarn.com.au/cats/cat-bowls-feeding-accessories…

    • Thanks for that info, I snagged the small one for my little dogs. Great price and they drink a lot of water so it will be good for them.

      • Glad to be of assistance… but I hope the small 'original' version is good enough for you. I had one of those before the Platinum and it was 'OK' but the Platinum is far better as it can hold so much more water… 5L versus 1.5L.

      • I got the small one for my small cat. A belated birthday present.

    • thanks op

  • what would anyone recommend for cat litter from here'?
    in the crystals?

    • I'm no fan of the crystals. I did try them at some stage. I'm not sure if the silicon dust from them would be particularly healthy either.

Of all the litters I've used I've found the Green's Corn based one the best, clumping and overall cleanliness. Plus can just put in compost bin easily. I think MyPetWarehouse is the only one stocking it. That said I've really had a few problem bags with weavils / moths in them lately. The do need to do some work on their production. But it works well.

We use the Breeders Choice litter. It's the recycled paper one. Pretty minimal fuss and works pretty good.

    • Not quite answering your question here :p but the one from kmart is good and pretty affordable. $6.50 for 3.5 litres. I don't know how to convert litres to kg to compare prices though :p

      • 1:1 Litres to kilograms, so 3.5 kg

I buy 20kg of Ozpet for $20, and the way it works means that I have to replace it less often. However, I find the pellets tend to hurt my cats feet, as I always see her standing on the lid of the litterbox while peeing/shitting.

The best litter would probably be a clumping litter that has a sandy texture.

Wow, even their share price is a bargain!

I just used the code and it works fine, I had no login issues either, they may have fixed it?

  • Thanks for this, just bought $424 worth of dog food and save $80.

  • +1

$424 more than I spend on food for my self

  • thanks Dick Smith

  • I don't think I can store anymore dog and cat food and cat litter. Bought up big on the last sale.

All I am getting when I tried to check out

    • Yeah you need to phone them up. That happened to me too. They had some technical issue last week that corrupted some accounts, or something like that. They can fix it pretty quick over the phone.

  • Thanks OP
Saved me some cash on the anti flea and deworming chews for my dog!

  • Remember to add consumables to a repeat order for an additional 10% off.

    • I guess on the repeat though you get charged the full (non 20% off) price plus postage though?

  • How does I know whether this is the valid street addresses?

    Don't do it people!

Like many others, I positive voted and ordered from Petbarn after their last 20% off deal a month ago. See here; www.ozbargain.com.au/node/231450?page=1#comment noting particularly the number of dissatisfied commenters at the end of the thread, complaining about incomplete orders.

After hearing nothing of my order for two weeks, I emailed them asked for an update or an ETA. Another 10 days later, they finally responded saying one of the items was out of stock and did I want it refunded and to process the rest of the order. Despite answering in the affirmative, yesterday I got an email off them saying the entire order had been cancelled and the full payment (which they had been holding for the last four weeks) would be refunded.

    Upon investigation of their online business, it seems like I'm one of many, many people who regularly gets the same treatment from them. Have a read for yourself and see the many pitiful reviews at;
    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/petbarn.html?rating=1#revi…

Sorry OP - it sounds like a decent deal, but these guys are crooks. Keep your money in your pockets on this one…

    • Took many calls to get through but eventually got my 4 payments refunded and missing items resent, so it was ok for me

btw, they have a huge issue log that they are wayyyyyy behind in. So if you need any questions answered quickly email wont work.
The lady said they are about 1-2 wks behind due to the amounts of email they have received.

After my phone call it was all quickly resolved.

I won't order from them again. Went through similar pain, then delayed order shipping, and then when it did come it wasn't correct. Something smells fishy with all the 20% sales.

      • Yep. Whilst I'm glad to hear that not everyone has had the same terrible experience as me and many others, plenty of people were having positive experiences with Dick Smith right up until their online orders evaporated and they stopped honouring gift cards.

I suspect there may be cashflow issues prompting all these 20% off sales, trying to clear some inventory and pay some bills…

        • They've always had 20% off deals

          @Putnum:

But every week? I agree, something's not right. They have some heavy investments and backing. Someone wants some profit, and it ain't happening.

last time the website crashed as I was checking out, they charged me but never sent an invoice, I emailed a few times but it was only once I opened a paypal dispute that they took notice. Within an hour I had a reply to my original email which was 10 days old. Never again.

I've been nothing but happy with PetBarn!
My order was couriered to my door within 48 hrs and I saved a bunch of cash. The one time an item was out of stock they offered a more expensive brand too. Happy camper here!

  • +1

Did an order last free shipping. No issues took about a week to arrive but it sounds like they were swamped last time.

    • Yeah same with me.

  • +1

Thank you OP, just in time, saved me from going to store & saved me money :) Website worked fine for me. Their deliveries are usually very quick too.

  • Damn, I ordered a heap of stuff from them a couple of weeks ago when they had a sale on most of their online items. I spent over $200 but had to pay postage :(

No issues though, arrived within a few days.

Maybe I will stock up on Black Hawk food for my dog :)

    Pookie

  • I had no problem ordering, and I didnt need to have an account to buy. Saved $50 on flea treatment, couldnt find a better deal than that!

    • They still rip you off by a lot.. Wholesale price for the win :D

      • Cool, so how does everyone else get those prices?

  • Greenies work at nearly 40% off RRP - easily the cheapest I've ever paid!!!

  • Grabbed two kongs. Great deal!

  • code is still working as at 22/02/2016 3:00pm!!!! rapt!!

  • Code still working at 9:13pm Brisbane time!

  • I ordered a bunch of gear from them Friday, order arrived today :) Great fast delivery.

    BUT

    I found two issues

1/ They overcharged me for my dog shampoo. The deal said 2 bottles for $20, but they have charged me full price $14.52 each :(

Luckily I took a screenshot of the special deal when I ordered, because now it's gone from the site.

2/ They sent me the wrong type of grooming scissors :(

I sent them a contact form message…I will wait and see what happens.

Pity because I was very happy with the 20% off everything and free fast shipping.

At least now I can try groom my dog with my new Andis electric clippers ($50 cheaper than I could find anywhere else)

    Cheers

    Pookie
