In Yarra you are allowed a couple of hard rubbish collections a year. You ring them and then put the stuff out the front. I think they stopped the general hard rubbish collection dates because the good stuff was being picked off leaving the collectors with nothing to offset the cost of collection.
Same as Port Phillip.
And Hobsons Bay. Most seemed to be South East suburbs. It's a fun night cruising around St Georges Road having a peek.
Most councils don't have dates any more. You just call your council and book. So you can't find out the dates and "happen" to be in that area the weekend before…
I don't know of a website that lists all of the dates, but if you have the time, maybe go through the list of council areas in Melbourne and check each website?
As the posters above said, a lot of councils now seem to do individual collections, and others seem to only notify residents shortly beforehand
eg.
Stonnington Council do a collection in Spring and Autumn and notify residents by sending out a brochure 2 weeks beforehand
Moreland City council announce their dates in March 2016 and send out a letter to residents
Brimbank do theirs in June/July/August but notify residents of the specific dates 2 weeks before collection

If not, I would just go to the council website or call them up to arrange a date.
