Can't remember now since they reduced the pack size and left the price the same. I think it used to be 15 and now it is 12.
With the Freddo share packs, it used to be 20 and now it's 15. I'll be stocking up on these, it's ages since either Woolies or Coles had them at half price!

That would have the effect of people not having the delusion of getting a bargain every single time that they shop when really they are offering less and less value as a constant ongoing process.
Why do they never discount healthy food, the margins on those products are so high. I guess real food holds it's value
Because healthy food doesn't sell or addictive. Cheap junk food and you will get people who buy every week.
You have it completely ass backwards: healthy food does not have high margins.
The high margins are in items where cheap ingredients are combined with flavourings, sugars and fats.
Usually as part of the marketing effort a "healthy" ingredient is added like "Fruit" but the "Fruit" will be in amounts to have no health benefit at all like 0.5% or some other pointless concentration of "healthy" food like adding folate to milk for example.
By using imagery in labelling and other marketing consumers rational mind is bypassed and the idea is placed inside the consumers head that the item is healthy unless the consumer has a better reference point about the product.

Yeah, but what about something like peanut butter. The cheaper stuff has far more additives and processing than expensive stuff, which is generally 100% peanuts. Why do I have to like peanut butter so much!
