Couch needed, need some tips

Hi, myself and wife, are self confessed couch potatoes, and our current couch has had its day.

i need to some recommendations for a couch to comfortably fit two adults at full stretch. Any tips would be appreciated.

Cheaper the better, but need the right balance of quality and cost. 1-2k at most

thanks

Buy second hand… Couches devalue fast, and people pay lots and change their minds often in the first year after purchase…

I bought couches off gumtree for cheap.
Virtually brand new for half the price at Fantastic furniture

  • buy 100% cow leather if you want it to last and not get ruined by spills

  • Don't buy from Fantastic Furniture, and not the bottom of the range at Super A MArt - these are just stapled together and have very little structural integrity. They will sag and become wonky in a very short time.

On the other end of the spectrum are the likes of King furniture - solid construction, coil sprung etc. They will last. You will pay $$$$!

I bought a pair of Lazy Boy sofas (not the reclining chairs) from a local auction warehouse. We got the pair (2+3 seater) for $800 - ex display. Retail price in hardly normal was about $2500. If you are in Melbourne, the place is Casey Auctions in Hallam. You never know from week to week what stock they will have - some IS SuperAMart and its ilk, but some is much better quality.

I'd highly recommend anybody from Melbourne who is looking to furniture to jump on their facebook page and have a look.
