Sorry to hijack the topic as lately there are so many deals to N.A, any deals to Europe Rep (others please don't reply about going to Syria route, I got the humors )

Dang these prices are making it hard to say no - until I look at the exchange rate.
Can I ask - is it possible to break up the leg from PER to LAX with a couple days in Auckland? Since I'm passing through I thought I could catch up with the rellies and show the kids NZ.

I don't see LA as LA. I see it as Los Santos and it's kinda the main reason I want to go

      • Keep in mind, in LA you don't get to respawn ☺

Just to clarify, those long haul flight AirNZ , are they full service flight?

Just puzzled me why the flights from Syd / Melb to NZ, you have to pay extra for luggage or meals, just like those budget airlines?

    • +1

I am pretty certain the long haul flights are full service flights.

    • fully serviced, travelled last year with them, pretty good service and food aswell.

    • australia to the US is over 12 hours non stop. i doubt it would be legal to not offer free meals for a flight that long.

    • Just got back from one. Yes, it's full service on both the trans-tasman and trans-pacific legs, and you get the full checked baggage allowance.

As to why the trans-tasman flights are so bare bones, it's because there is demand for it - the average price of one of those flights (seat only) is between $170 and $300, when an equivalent Qantas (full service) is between $300 and $500 - if you buy a Works Deluxe fare on Air NZ it'll cost you about the same as Qantas.

  • Can any1 confirm what class fare this would be in terms of velocity points earned

    • +2

They would come under Discount Economy. I book this same deal every year for around $900 as I fly in June each year for an event. You will get 120 Status Credits (20 for MEL-AKL, 40 for AKL-LAX).

      • Thanks jeppetto. Do u happen to know whether it is 0.75 or 0.25 velocity points per mile. Can any1 who has bought a ticket confirm what fare class code is on their ticket as per this table: https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Earn/Airlines/…

        • +1

Booking class is G for the tickets prices around this with Air NZ directly, so 0.25.
