Perth Car Dealer Sales Due to Hail Storm

HI all, I'm in the market for a new car for around $15,000 and was just wondering if anyone knew any car dealers that have reduced their stock due to it being damaged from the storm on Monday.

I know Paceway Mitsubishi and Scarborough Toyota have already started their sales. Anyone know any other car dealers that have begun reducing stock or will reduce?

  • I think some of the dealers on Leach Highway in Melville copped some damage. Im not sure if they are having a sale though

  • The good dealers will try to recover it from insurance. The insurance companies will then usually sell it through auction houses such as Pickles or Grays. This is usually done to protect their reputations and to avoid warranty issues from the damage. Of course, the ones that did not have enough insurance will discount to sell…

  • Make sure you save a few hundred dollars after you buy the car so you can then buy one of those Dyson vacuum cleaners listed a few days ago to suck out all the dents.

  • Mythbusters did a show on aerodynamics and proved that a car with dents (like golfball dimples) was actually faster and more fuel efficient………..

    • By how much ?

  • thanks guys, gonna have a look car dealers in melville and osborne park as they seem to have been badly hit.

  • if you could repair it for less than the dealers go for it but i doubt the dealers will be reducing price of car by more than it will cost you to repair

  • just for context, it cost about $5000 to fix my car that was damaged by the hailstorm in Melbourne. You're not saving that much money, buying hailstorm damaged cars.

  • Hello, I just bought a car this week end that was hail damaged at Osborne Park. I got a new suzuki swift, green automatic for 14000 dollars. It has dents on it of course but I really don't mind, and I do not intend to repair them so the bargain is interesting. The car is all new in terms of engine and inside. I though is was worthwhile for a second car, I do not know though if it is easy to get bargains on new cars anyway in Australia. Perhaps we could have asked for more bargain (initial price drive away was around 19200 dollars so price reduction is 25%). For information, I was able to get a full comprehensive insurance for the car. Not all of insurances do it though.

  • Hi biguette, who did you insure your swift with?

    • it was sgio, I took the comprehensive plus.

  • hello,
just looked on pickles auctions last night and hail damaged cars are going to auction in the next 2 weeks :) they have over 500 cars :) might get a good bargain there :)
