Crucial SSD Can't Be Detected on Windows 7

The SSD in question here works just fine, but can't be detected by CrystalDiskInfo and SSDlife Pro or this sort of diagnostics programs. I am basically trying to check the status of the SSD because it should be near the end of its life.

Model info from Speccy -

ATA MTFDDAK512MAY-1A SCSI Disk Device

Any help will be appreciated.

  • Try installing an old version of… Intel RST v11.2.0.1006 driver. New versions are patchy.

  • Is the SSD allocated a Drive Letter in Win7? I don't know all the ins and outs of it and I'm not sure if this is what you need but I often have to do it to get Win7 to register my ext HDD's so I can access them.

Open Control Panel, click System and Security, down and click Administrative Tools - gets you a new window, double click Computer Management and you get another window.

In the new window click on Disk Management and after a few seconds you should see a list of hard drives available. If yours isn't allocated a Drive Letter it will show as blank where (C:) is, in the Volume column. To allocate Drive Letter right click on unallocated drive in the Volume column and navigate to Change Drive Letter … and click, in new box click the Add… button then in the new box click OK to allocate a drive letter to your SSD - available letter will be presented by the system.

If drive allocation is not your problem I don't know what will fix it.

    • It works fine. What you described above is not a problem in this case.

      • Did you fix it then?

        • The machine is busy atm crunching away numbers, I'll try fixes suggest in this thread while it becomes idle.

  • sorry presumed it wasn't being detected due to your topic…

what you need to do is download the DEV version of crystaldiskinfo. ie.crystaldiskinfo 6.1.x Dev4 x64 version

  • Guys, I think I found out what is going on, look here - http://i.imgur.com/2DHDe2X.jpg
